It's called the Hotel de Rome but it's in Berlin, just 10 minutes from the Brandenburger Tor. The Rocco Forte Hotel de Rome will be teaming up with the neighbouring State Opera House for a special event on New Year's Eve. A four-course gala menu will be served in Hotel de Rome's historic Palm Court ballroom following Beethoven's brilliant 9th Symphony conducted by Gustavo Dudamel. The first three courses will be served before midnight. Then the guests can go up to the magnificent roof terrace with a glass of champagne to watch as fireworks go up all over Berlin to greet the New Year. Afterwards, coffee and a dessert buffet await in the Opera Court. Here, you can relax and enjoy the first hours of the New Year or party in the Bebel Bar into the small hours. The band Earth to Earth and a choice of unusual cocktails will get the party going. The package, including a four-course menu with drinks to accompany the meal, one glass of champagne at midnight and a category 1 ticket for the State Opera House concert, is available at 348 euros. 16/12/08
