Writing page-turning romance novels has paid off for Danielle Steel. The prolific author is said to be worth $600 to $800 million. She is known for her couture tastes and her jewel collection, part of which she auctioned off at Christie's New York as part of their Jewels auction. Steel's collection includes many unique and striking pieces such as a diamond-and-black-coral owl brooch by Van Cleef & Arpels, a pair of sapphire and diamond "Trumpet Flower" ear clips by Jean Schlumberger, Tiffany & Co., an emerald and diamond bead necklace, a gold armadillo bracelet from David Webb, a pair of gold cuff bracelets featuring animals carved in peridot and watches from Patek Philippe and Franck Muller. 23/09/08
