1857 2 Pence Strip (4 of 4)
Described as "one of the great rarities of Newfoundland," this unique envelope with a strip of three 1857 2 Pence denomination stamps mailed from St. Johns, Newfoundland to Devon, England in 1859 is valued today at $200,000 more. It is one of the highlights of the William H. Gross British North America Collection to be offered in a public auction by Spink Shreves Galleries, November 19, 2009, with all proceeds to be donated to the Smithsonian National Postal Museum. 17/10/09
