windmill cottage

If you've ever wanted to live in a windmill this is your chance. The Edward DeRose Windmill Cottage in the East Hampton District was built around 1885. The home, an example of nineteenth century "windmill architecture" was renovated in 1998. The windmill is in the foyer and leads to a living room with beamed ceiling and fireplace. There is a semi-circular screened-in porch, south sunroom and formal dining room.  The grounds include a two-bedroom guest house and studio building as well as a heated gunite pool and a tennis court.. There is an extensive master suite with a private terrace, dressing rooms and luxury bath. The second story of the windmill is a library with sundeck and there is a third floor windmill office. The estate is listed at $20 million.
