Daryn Schnipper has worked at Sotheby's for almost 30 years, over half of which has been spent leading the international watch and clock department. One of the pioneers of wristwatch auctions, under Ms Schnipper's tenure, Sotheby's have also achieved and retained major horological world records. The highlight of her career would undoubtedly be the auction of Masterpieces from the Time Museum Parts 1-4. These sales broke all previous auction records with the highest sale total of horological objects reaching a staggering $58,593,845. The first part of those sales saw 4 new world records with, among others, Patek Philippe's legendary Henry Graves Supercomplication, sold for $11,002,500 and a Breguet Sympathique for $5,777,500. Ms. Schnipper has handled many famous and important watch and clock collections including those of: Justice Warren Shepro; the Estate of Esmond Martin, Andy Warhol, Seth G. Atwood and Joseph Meraux. In addition to reviving biannual sales in Geneva in the late 1980s, she can also be credited for initiating, in 1995, twice yearly Important Wristwatch sales in Hong Kong. Ms. Schnipper has appeared on the Antiques Road show in the United States and is a member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, The International Wristwatch, Watch and Jewerly Guild and the American Horological Society.
