The New Bamboo Stud-Embellished Leather Tote from Gucci is a structured modern gem, and (for some reason) it makes me think of licorice. It's all layers of vibrant black leather with rows of small gold stud details, braiding, thick leather tassels, a detachable luggage tag and woven shoulder strap, and of course the single glossy black bamboo top handle. It also has a small stud and bamboo twist-lock closure on the fold-over flap front. Inside it's lined raffia and has one zippered pocket, plus a mirror and leather mirror sleeve. $4,200

Designers go a little crazy sometimes creating handbags with outrageous features or price tags, all in the name of style, exclusivity, and pushing the boundaries of fashion. From clutches covered in diamonds to exotic skins dipped in 24-karat gold and even purses meant to look like garbage bags, we've seen it all.

Today's handbag of the day was inspired by an Easter egg hunt -- if you find a golden egg on the MZ Wallace website you win a free bag. In the course my egg-hunting I came upon the Boa Zoe bag. The beautiful abstract print is actually a boa design but to me it evokes more of a 'dappled shade' feeling, like what happens under a tree on a city sidewalk in the heat of summer. Plus it has a little safari energy going on, and enough pockets and carrying options to make a girl dizzy. Other features include Italian leather trim, a matching detachable market purse, protective leather feet, and a woven periwinkle logo lining. $365

Featuring a long list of colors, textures, and patterns it's amazing how well it all comes together in the finished product. It starts on the fold-over flap top in animal-print calf hair, then moves down to blocks of green and beige python, a large pink suede tab, and finishes with orange suede tasseled pull tabs at sides and a green leather shoulder strap. It has a detachable pouch on front, a pocket on the back, and the interior is divided into two separate zippered compartments.
