Etsy Find: Little Wings Designs Roll Top Bag, Handbag of the Day

Our latest Etsy Find is a gorgeous mustard leather handbag by Little Wings Designs. The Double Pocket Roll Top Bag ($564) has a unique roll top design to secure your belongings. Once the top is rolled, the straps buckle together creating your handle. That's pretty cool. The front is accented with two exterior pockets with a circular antiqued brass piece at the center and on either side of the pockets.

This slouchy Roll Top Bag is very roomy in length and width, so you can fit virtually anything you need for the day and perhaps the night too. In addition to exterior front pockets, there is a zippered back pocket and several compartments in the interior. The lining is made with 100% organic hemp muslin. It's available in numerous colors like cognac, leaf, teal, and dark grey suede to name a few. You could also request a particular color for a custom order. Dimensions: 13" x 7" x 16".

Giorgio Gucci Visits Capitol Hill To Protest Counterfeit Trade and Distribution

Giorgio Gucci made his first visit to Washington yesterday as part of a forum discussion entitled "Intellectual Property Rights in the Fashion Industry and Its Effects on Our Nation's Economy." Gucci, descendant of the famous Gucci dynasty, is the third generation of Gucci heirs that began with his grandfather, Guccio, who established the Gucci House of design in 1905. Panelists included Caroyl Miller, deputy textile negotiator from the U.S. Trade Representative Office, Jean Bonilla, director of the Office of Intellectual Property Enforcement and Steve Hicks, director of trade policy and agreement at the office of U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Lin Art Project Shopper, Handbag of the Day

The Lin Art Project Tote ($835) is not for the faint of heart. It's completely unique and unexpected, and goes against the trend of simple silhouettes with minimal adornments. But if you know anything about Lin Besser, designer behind Lin, her tote fits perfectly with her colorful, off-the-wall and quirky aesthetic. Check out her Spring/Summer 2010 collection here.

Made of leather, Lin's tote features a sequined and embroidered character with bright pink and purple bug eyes and three multi-colored teeth. It sort of reminds me of the children's toy – Ugly Dolls. The ones that look so strange that they actually become cute. If someone took the time to decorate an Ugly Doll I have a feeling it would like a lot like Lin's little quirky and scary character.

The interior is spacious and perfect for items that are thin (wallet, magazine, phone, ebook reader, etc). The Lin Art Project Tote is fully lined with a hidden magnetic snap as a closure, and gold accents on the handle. Measurements: 41 cm H x 35 cm W.

The Baby Acherora Bag by Sara Battaglia ($1005) infuses the ever so popular jewelry trend of heavily layered mixed metals against the simple silhouette of a top handle bag. And just for good measure, added flared strips of leather accented with silver metals at the ends. The result – an extremely decorated handbag. One aspect that I especially like is the vibrant green interior lining. When it comes to good design, there's nothing like a subtle dose of the unexpected.

While Battaglia's Acherora Bag would not be a good candidate as your everyday-go-to black handbag, it would serve well as your ultimate statement bag. It's too overwhelming to be worn with an outfit that is just as busy looking, but juxtaposed against a simple outfit like a loose fitting t-shirt, long gray cardigan, lightweight scarf, skinny jeans and a pair of deep purple shoes for a pop of color, the Acherora Bag would look stunning. Thought I'd highlight a nice, calming day bag today and this Dayton Messenger Satchel by Tory Burch is certainly one of those. Chocolate grained leather and gold hardware are the prominent features, with some mixed layers and textures giving a little extra spice to the overall look. It features double detachable top handles as well as a removable shoulder/crossbody strap, a flap-over front with buckle fastening closure, and an exceptionally roomy interior lined in taupe twill and featuring plenty of pockets. A great choice if you need the roominess of a tote with the style and versatility of a handbag. $525

It's probably best if I never own this Angela Mini Pochette bag personally because I think I'd end up swinging it around a lot and it might get me into trouble. A creation by Alexander Wang, the "swingability" of this bag is the result of a shape that's both structured and slouchy (and rounded, like a baby bowling bag) with two goldtone rings on top holding a circular leather ring that serves as the only a handle. Looks similar to a drawstring style from afar. Rich textured leather in brown or black, zippered 'side' closure, protective metal feet, and interesting goldtone stud details on the handle round out the features. $650

All my favorites seem to be suede lately! This Michael Michael Kors creation is called the Uptown Astor Large Suede Tote and it's a softer version of leather and studs. Light brown suede pairs naturally with goldtone studs, darker leather double top handles, and a detachable leather-and-chain shoulder strap. Large rings connect via designer-stamped rivets and the botton corners have protective seams and accents for long-wearing usefulness. The inside is fully lined in designer-patterned twill and features a plethora of pockets (5 in total) and the top closes via magnetic press-stud fastener. $450

Louis Vuitton Closes Paris Stories Early To Save Bags For Christmas

Louis Vuitton is taking some unusual steps to preserve its stocks for the coming holiday shopping. Reuters reports that the luxury brand will be closing its Parisian stores an hour early from now through December 1 to slow down the depletion of its luxury handbags and other leather goods before the pre-Christmas rush. The Parisian stores are a magnet for Japanese, Chinese and Russian buyers interested in picking up the latest styles. The bags are often cheaper in Paris than they would be in their home country's stores. The article says that Vuitton boutiques within department stores Bon Marche, Printemps Haussmann and Galeries Lafayette will not be affected.
