Dennis Hopper's Furniture On Offer at Christie's

Last summer my colleague Deirdre Woollard covered the sale of Dennis Hopper's house and major works from his impressive collection of contemporary art. Now Christie's is offering a number of prized pieces of furniture that belonged the late actor, artist and aesthete. Tops among Hopper's design classics in Christie's Interiors sale in New York on Jan. 11 – 12 is a chrome and black leather chaise by Le Corbusier, estimated at $1,000 – $1,500; a cardboard "bubble chair" designed by architect Frank Gehry, estimated at $3,000 – $5,000; and an oak and black leather Eames chair with ottoman, estimated at $1,000 – $1,500. Also included are various photographs and works of art, including an Andy Warhol silkscreen of Marilyn Monroe estimated at $40,000 – $60,000, and even the actor's set of Tiffany & Co. teacups and desert plates, estimated at $200 – $300. A number of the items are being offered without reserve, so it's a good chance for Hopper fans to score a memento.

Orlando Bloom Lists Hollywood Hills Home For Lease

orlando bloomAs Orlando Bloom prepares for the arrival of his new baby with Victoria's Secret model Miranda Kerr it seems that they won't be welcoming the new child in his Hollywood Hills home. The LA Times reports that Bloom bought in 2007 for $2.75 million and now the home, which is in a gated Hollywood Hills community, is listed for lease at $18,000 a month.

The four-bedroom house has more than 3,200 square feet of living space on a lot of three-quarters of an acre that includes a pool, pro swim machine and spa and a large motor court. Walnut doors open into the one-story home. Listing pictures mostly show the outside spaces including the grounds and the home's black exterior but the kitchen which the listing dubs "unique & so hip" has a fireplace. This is the home that was robbed back in 2009 when thieves made off with a reported $500,000 in goods. Bloom was not home at the time. Perhaps Blooms is in the mood for a little more privacy. Recently photographers dogged him as he went was riding his motorcycle in the Hollywood Hills, provoking him to get in a photographer's face. The listing for the home is with Venessa Blair of Coldwell Banker, Beverly Hills East office.

Daniel Kae Kim Lists His Hawaii Home

daniel dae kimIs Daniel Dae Kim leaving Hawaii? Recent reports show that the actor, who stars on "Hawaii Five-O" and was also on "Lost," recently sold his share of the Honolulu franchise of the burger restaurant The Counter and has also put his Honolulu home on the market. The Real Estalker reports that Kim and his wife Mia bought the home six months ago for $2,211,250.

The home was built in 1948 and is a single-story residence near the beach in the upscale and quiet Honolulu neighborhood of Kahala. The property includes a landscaped yard and deep pool. The listing says that the home is partially renovated and that architect Peter Vincent designed the renovation improvements. It's not clear if the Kims ever lived in the five-bedroom home. The home has some nice features including a long skylight that runs the length of the dining room and a shaded and vine-covered lanai. This home is listed at $2.430 million.

Mariah Carey Tweets About Rolls-Royce Christmas Gift

mariah careyMariah Carey may have sung "All I Want For Christmas is You" in a recent Christmas special but her real Christmas list was perhaps a bit more extensive. She recently tweeted a picture of a Rolls-Royce next to a private plane with the words: "Still getting over my Christmas gift from Nick Cannon... License plate: mommyMC." Carey is pregnant with the couple's first child and set to give birth this spring.

Carey joins several other new Rolls owners including Guy Ritchie and Kim Kardashian. In December, Paris Hilton was spotted taking a black Rols-Royce Ghost for a test drive.

P. Diddy Charters the $600,000-a-Week iPad Megayacht in St. Barths

The other day we told you about Solemates (above), the $600,000 per week 197-ft. superyacht charter designed by the great Espen Oeino and launched by Lürssen earlier this year, the first of its kind to offer clients control of its various high-tech systems via the iPad. Now none other than Sean "P. Diddy" Combs has turned up on the yacht in St. Barths, where he chartered the ultra-luxe vessel for a family vacation over New Year's with girlfriend Kim Porter, their daughters D'Lila and Jessie and son Justin before jetting to Las Vegas to party. Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas visited as well. Via the iPad Diddy and co. can control the shipboard entertainment, climate and lighting systems and even summon crewmembers to bring refreshments.

The interior of the yacht, which accommodates 12 guests in six luxurious cabins, was designed by Glade Johnson in a blend of elegant, rich woods and textures and classical details paired with contemporary, sleek lines. The main and upper deck salons are awash with natural light and offer impressive spaces for formal or casual dining and entertaining. The sun deck features an outdoor dining area and a sun lounge wrapped around the Jacuzzi forward, and a discotheque sound and lighting system turns it into an al fresco nightclub. There are several toys and tenders aboard for a variety of recreational activities.

Celebrity Real Estate Round-Up, 2010-- Who's Still On The Market?

The good news is that celebrity homes seem to sell more easily than your average luxury real estate. The bad news is that there a lot of celebrity homes still seeking a new buyer. I dug through my 2010 archives, month by month, to assess the damage and see who is still trying to sell.

Some celebrities including Mel Gibson, have tried a price cut of over a million. Others including Uma Thurman, Ricky Martin and Richard Chamberlain have held their ground and their properties have sat on the market for over six months. Sheryl Crow tried to take the auction route but failed to sell her Tennessee farm.

But of course the biggest celebrity real estate tail of woe for 2010 has to be Nicolas Cage. He managed to sell off his New York apartment and his Las Vegas house but saw two New Orleans homes and his Bel Air mansion fall to foreclosure. His Rhode Island home, shown above, is still on the market for $7.75 million, a far cry from the $15.7 million he paid for it.

A look at every celebrity home listing we covered in 2010 with updated results is after the jump.

Eddie Murphy's Ex-Wife Nicole Deep In Debt

We've been following the real estate dealings of Eddie Murphy's ex-wife Nicole for a while. This week the National Enquirer reported that Nicole is deep in debt after spending the $15 million settlement she received from Eddie when they divorced in 2006. The story says that the IRS has hit her with five tax liens totally $846,630.

We've seen her Calabasas mansion on and off the market since 2007. Most recently when we made it an estate of the day back in 2009 it was listed at $8.495 million but a quick peek at the MLS shows that it is now listed at just $5.95 million. The Enquirer says that Murphy owes $5 million on her Los Angeles-area home. She also gets child support payments from Eddie Murphy. She has started a business called Friendship, Love and Peace and currently dates former NFL player Michael Strahan.

Eddie Murphy is also still trying to sell off a home that has been on the market for a long time. His New Jersey home, Bubble Hill, was once priced at $30 million but is now down to $12.75 million.

Michael Jackson's Final Home Gets Big Price Cut

As I move through the estates category archives seeing where things have ended up this year I'm finding some big price cuts including one for the Los Angeles mansion where Michael Jackson was living when he died in June 2009. The Richard-Landry-designed home on North Carolwood Drive in the elite area of Holmby Hills first hit the market in August when it was listed for $28.995 million with Jerry Jolton of Coldwell Banker Beverly Hills South. It is now listed at $23.5 million.

At the time of his death Jackson was renting the seven-bedroom home for $100,000 a month. The French-chateau-styled mansion is on a 1.26 acre lot. The home is owned by Roxanne and Hubert Guez. Hubert Guez is the current CEO of the Ed Hardy brand. Last year it was reported that Ed Hardy designer Christian Audigier would be moving into the home and planned to do business from there. The home was on the market for $38 million in 2008. Hubert Guez bought the home in 2004 for $18.5 million. The home was built in 2002 and includes a library, theater room and wine cellar. There is also a pool and a guest house on the property.

Mel Gibson Lists Costa Rican Hideaway For $35 Million

mel gibsonIs a 500-acre spread in Costa Rica not private enough? That's the reason Mel Gibson is giving for listing his tropical getaway, Hacienda Dorada, for sale. The Hollywood Reporter reports that Gibson's property is up for sale through Engel & Volkers for $35 million because the oceanfront property is no longer private enough and he is plagued by paparazzi when he is there. The estate on the Nicoya Peninsula has a seven-bedroom main house, a pair of two-bedroom homes, each with a private pool. The property is staffed full time. He brought the property in 2007 for $25.8 million.

Gibson may be in for a bit of a wait if he wants to sell this one. Earlier this year he finally sold Old Mill Farm, his 75-acre Greenwich, Connecticut estate. It went for nearly $24 million after spending three years on the market and having a series of price cuts. He bought the property in 1994 for $9.3 million.

His Malibu property, Lavender Hill Farm, where his ex-wife Robyn lived, hit the market earlier this year for $14.5 million is still listed but with a lower price of $12.75 million.

Diandra Douglas Slices $5 Million Off Montecito Home

Finally a dose of real estate wisdom from Diandra Douglas. We've been following the saga of Michael Douglas' ex-wife as she fights for a share of Michael Douglas' earnings from Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps." Her case, which hinges on a clause in their divorce that said that she was entitled to profits from spin-offs from his existing projects, was rejected in New York but is currently under consideration in California. All the while, Douglas has kept her Montecito, California home firmly priced at $29 million for nearly a year. But when I looked recently the price had been dropped down to $24 million.

The former Mrs. Douglas owns an enviable spread in Montecito, the ultra-pricey enclave that is home to Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres and others. The Tuscan villa is on over seven acres which is actually divided into two lots. It is rumored that she got a $45 million settlement in the divorce as well as this home. The Real Estalker reported that the home was purchased way back in 1979 for just $275,000. The 1920s Mediterranean has large iron gates and a motor court leading up to the grand home. The home has been recently updated and has a 75' pool, guesthouse, tennis court, Japanese water garden and green lawns from which to take in the ocean views. Tile floors, dark wood beams, vaulted ceilings and arched French doors all add to the feeling of classic Californian Mediterranean style. The pool/guest house offers another living room and kitchen.

Nicolas Cage's Rhode Island Home Gets Another Price Cut

The Gray Craig home in Middletown, Rhode Island as been on my radar since it was for sale for $19 million in 2005 but it can now be had for a fraction of that price. It was bought by Nicolas Cage for $15.7 million. The home is on over 27 acres of land that extends to Nelson Pond and includes views of the Atlantic Ocean beyond. The grounds feature a pool, tennis court, fish pond, stone terrace and heated garages. The brick and stone home has 12 bedrooms and was built in a grand style. Public rooms include a library with a barrel-vaulted ceiling, a formal living room with water views, dining room, vintage conservatory, billiard room, and a kitchen with a stone fireplace, custom hickory ceilings, and antique terra cotta floor tiles.

Cage first listed this home in 2008 and since then we've seen the price fall. He's either sold or lost to foreclosure just about everything else on his plate but this Rhode Island home remains. A reader tipped me to the fact that it's now listed at just $7.75 million representing another huge loss for Cage who has taken it on the chin when it comes to real estate. His New Orleans homes went back to bank.
