IGA Investment Fund Plans to Invest in Classic Cars

IGA Investment Fund Plans to Invest in Classic Cars

When financial institutions fail and people lose their confidence, investors begin looking for other ways to capitalize on their wealth. And one of those ways has been with classic cars. While the rest of the economy tanked, collector cars continued to climb. According to Hagerty's "Cars That Matter" index, prices for collectible post-war automobiles has gone up 67% from 2006 to the end of last year, while Standard & Poor's 500 Index dropped 5.9% over the same time period. Those are some compelling numbers, which have compelled many investors to put their equity into rolling assets.

That's the basis for the formation of IGA Automobile, an upstart investment fund that aims to buy and re-sell some of the finest automobiles they can get their hands on. Among their targeted acquisitions are the Ferrari 250 GTO (like the one pictured above), Aston Martin DB4 Zagato, Ford GT40, McLaren F1, Shelby Daytona and Porsche 917. Of course they'll have to find buyers willing to part with their cars to turn them around, but the fund plans on investing some $150 million over the course of 7 years and turn a 15% profit for its investors.

Among those reportedly on board is Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason, a noted collector and regular columnist for Octane magazine.

toni braxtonOnce again, Grammy-winning and financially-challenged singer Toni Braxton is facing foreclosure. Kate Moss Moves Into Her New $12 Million Mansion

Who buys the eye-popping properties that make the grade as our Estate of the Day? Kate Moss just snapped one up for a cool $12 million – London's historic The Grove, which we featured back in April – and is spending millions more on renovations. The luxe brick and timber property in Highgate, built way back in 1688 with additions in 1930, has a literary pedigree; author Samuel Taylor Coleridge lived there for a number of years. These days the likes of Sting, Jude Law and Sienna Miller live next door. The nine-bedroom, four-story residence has 6,700-sq.-ft. of living space, wood paneling, seven fireplaces, a wine cellar and a large landscaped garden. [cont'd]

Demi Moore Flies to Sundance in Style with JetSuite

Back in 2008 my colleague Deirdre Woollard first reported on the plans for JetSuite, a new private aviation company from the founders of JetBlue. Now the company has gotten off the ground in high style with help from the likes of Demi Moore, who just took a JetSuite flight to the Sundance Film Festival. JetSuite's fleet of 4-seat Embraer Phenom 100 jets are the best, most fuel-efficient aircraft in their class with speeds up to 450 miles per hour, an operating altitude of up to 41,000 ft, a stylish interior cabin designed by BMW and the largest baggage compartment in its category. The company provides service to major cities (AKA "SuiteSpots") throughout the Western United States, Canada and Mexico. They aim to make the luxury of flying private more accessible and affordable with prices starting at just $999 for a one-way flight – for the whole plane. Moore, who has flown JetSuite before, has praised its ease, convenience and privacy. "She loves that she can depart whenever she wants, not have to deal with long security lines, and leave her shoes, belts, and jewelry on," an insider tells us.

Curbed NY reports that the home is now down below the $10 million mark. It is listed at $9.5 million.

50 Cent Drops The Price Of His Connecticut Home

Rapper/actor 50 Cent (a.k.a. Curtis Jackson) is one of our all time celebrity real estate slow sellers. He's been trying to unload the pile of property in Farmington, Connecticut which he bought from Mike Tyson's ex-wife for several years. He bought the home for just $4.1 million but reportedly spent $6 million renovating it. He has been trying to sell the home since 2007 when he wanted $18.5 million for the property.

In 2009 he settled a lawsuit against an engineering firm that he hired to inspect the 52-room home before he bought it. He claimed they underestimated the value of the repairs needed. The mansion was listed at $14.5 million at that point but then was pulled off the market. It went back up with a new listing agent and a new price of $10.9 million.

Now here we are in 2011 and he has again switched agents. New agent William Raveis announced the listing on StamfordPlus. The home has 52 rooms on 17 private acres and includes a personal helicopter pad.

The new listing comes with new pictures that show the home in a better light than we have seen before. The home still seems more like a hotel than a residence but the new pictures showcase the marble foyer, the dining room, living room, kitchen and home office. The pictures also show the grand home theater, billiards room and nightclub with a lighted dance floor, bar and DJ area. The nightclub also has a private room for after-hours entertainment. For other activities there is also a racquet ball court, indoor pool, large gym, fitness facilities and an outdoor basketball court. Check out the listing for a virtual tour on this property which has finally dipped below the $10 million mark. It now sits at $9,999,999.

Frankie Muniz Re-Lists His Hollywood Hills Home

When actor Frankie Muniz was still a teen television star he bought and sold quite a bit of property around Los Angeles. That all slowed down with the end of his television show "Malcolm in the Middle." In 2005 he bought this home for $3.499 million and in 2007 he put it on the market for $3.875 million.

The LA Times reports that the home is back on the market. Muniz has been renting it out in recent years and new listing pictures show that it's missing the artwork and young-star-glam look it had back in 2007. Muniz meanwhile has turned his attention for acting to race car driving and playing drums with the band You Hang Up.

The traditional-style 1941 home and has five bedrooms total including a master bedroom that has skylights, walk-in closets and a bath with an infinity tub. The home is on a small plot of land but has a pool, spa, outdoor dining area and a charming outdoor fireplace. The home is now listed at $3.195 million.

Hulk Hogan Still Trying To Sell Off His Florida Real Estate

Hulk Hogan may have gotten married at his Clearwater, Florida home in December but that doesn't mean he isn't still trying to unload it. Not only that, he is still trying to sell the Belleair, Florida home that he shared with his ex-wife Linda and his family and was featured in the reality television show "Hogan Knows Best." Back in 2006 the five-bedroom home was listed at $25 million.

The Hogans struggled through an acrimonious divorce before going their separate ways and the French country style manor home returned to market in 2009 when it was listed at $13.9 million. The property has a 17,000 square-foot home and includes a guest apartment, boat house, large lawns, several garages, boat lifts and a floating dock all on 1.5 acre. Property taxes are $126,629. Its most recent price is $10.9 million. Newer listing pictures show that the Hogans furniture is now gone and the stagers have come in so the home's large spaces are more easily showcased.

Hogan's other property didn't have quite so far to fall. The other property is far smaller, a Key West style three-bedroom home right on the beach in Clearwater. The three-bedroom home was listed at $2.3 million but now has a price of $1.995 million.

Tiret Watch For Kanye West, With His Face On It

Tiret has a nice little thing going for itself when it comes to high-status celebs who want some of them, on their wrist. I previously wrote about a watch that Tiret made for Usher here. The same concept (but done differently) was applied to a watch for musician Kanye West. You have the same oblong "Second Chance" watch case design, in 18k yellow gold. Coming with a gold bracelet or reptile strap, Kanye seems to be enjoying his (as he seems to wear it a lot).

The watch dial features two Swiss quartz chronograph movements. So you have two times, two chronographs, etc... The real allure is in all the jewel work. Tiret claims it took them over five months to create the dial. The dial itself is in gold toned mother-of-pearl, with a combo of white, yellow, brown, and black diamonds. The bezel is lined with very large diamonds as well. The watch is said to have a total of about 8 carats of stones. Kayne's face has been immortalized on the dial - complete with sunglasses. Retail price for this is said to be about $180,000, and is custom made specially for each client.
