In recent fashion news a French court ruled in favor of Hermes in a case they brought against eBay that involved the sales of fake handbags. This case set precedent and although the punitive fines involved are relatively small, the outcome of the case undoubtedly has eBay a little worried. The verdict directly challenges eBay's argument that it is not directly responsible for what is sold on its web site. Did I mention Tiffany & Co., Christian Dior and Louis Vuitton all have similar cases in the works against eBay! In response, eBay has said it takes counterfeiting very seriously and points to the steps it has taken since the case was first launched to improve its anti-counterfeiting measures. I'm interested to see the outcome of all this and I wonder if consumers will notice any changes in online auction policies as a result.

In times of natural disaster or terrorist attacks, chances are the dogs that will be coming to our aid will be graduates of this amazing organization. Training for each dog runs around $10,000, takes up to a year and requires extensive one-on-one time. The dogs that train at SDF are from shelters, which makes me love this organization that much more. SDF receives no government funding, and relies on the generosity of the public to keep the whole thing running!

Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy are hoping they can use their combined star power to help raise awareness this week for the Green Our Vaccines march and rally. Jenny's son Evan was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder in 2005, and Jenny has been trying to help him and others by raising awareness of the possible link between autism and childhood vaccinations. The actors have joined with other national autism advocacy groups to press for the elimination of toxins from children's vaccines and to change children's vaccination schedules. It's always a heated debate, with facts and studies being presented on both sides, but a growing number of parents of autistic children believe that vaccines, especially those containing the mercury-based preservatives, are to blame for bringing on their children's autistic symptoms. The design is inspired by one of my favorite models Eva Herzigova. I'm not sure if "inspired by" means she took part in it's conception, or if by looking at her perfect face someone was inspired to make it...either way this dainty bag is getting my vote for must have Louis of 2008. The clever removable straps allow you to carry it three different ways, using the short chain on your shoulder, using the long strap on your shoulder (which leaves the chain hanging as a decoration), or using the chain around your wrist as a pouchette. I love love love this bag! The Eva Clutch is available online and in select stores (it's selling out quickly, so get on a list) for $530, not bad as far as Louis go.

Women carry their diaper bags like they would a purse, so obviously a certain status symbol situation occurs, I'm starting to notice it everywhere I go, moms casually scoping out the other moms diaper bag. Last week's star studded charity auction and dinner event at Cannes, raked in a whopping $10 million for amfAR, a leading AIDS research organization. Founded in 1985, amfAR is dedicated to ending the global AIDS epidemic through continued innovative research. Tickets to attend the bash went for $5,000 a person and accounted for a good portion of the evenings earnings. Celebrities in attendance included Madonna who donated her purse complete with it's contents to the evenings auction...it went for a staggering $1.5 million! It's nice to see people coming together with such a successful outcome, $10 million is quite an accomplishment for one evening!

I'm not sure if this Rubber Chandelier sets out to solve a problem (eliminating the breakability factor) or just strives to be unique and kooky. Either way, if you want a showstopping conversation piece for your home, voila! Designer Tobias Wong adds his personal flare to the age-old chandelier by encapsulating each crystal in an thick coat of industrial grade white rubber. My theory is why mess with perfection...and to me, chandeliers are pretty perfect, but I must admit this thing is kind of cool. I'm dying to know if it bounces. My search for the perfect stroller...is finally over! I went way beyond my planned budget but it was love at first sight and you can't argue with that. I had the pleasure of seeing a demo for the Orbit System at a baby boutique and was sold instantly. Orbit Travel Systems are designed by Stanford graduates Bryan White and Joseph Hei, who've witnessed first hand the "issues" that go along with most stroller/car seat systems (rumor has it that one of the men's wives wanted a travel system she could easily carry up their stairs, by herself, with one hand), with that the Orbit was born. Simply put, it's the easiest, safest most convenient travel system on the market. The whole thing will run you around $900...comparable to the other high end travel systems, but so much better! The car seat part loads from any angle due to it's unique rotate and lock feature. Same goes when it's being used as a stroller, you can swivel baby around with ease! The Orbit pushes unlike any other stroller I have experienced and trust me I pushed DOZENS in my search. Plus, the Orbit is cute, it's not bulky and hiddeous like others! This outstanding company has earned some serious bragging rights!
