Temperley London Fabergé Evening Lattice Clutch, Handbag of the Day

Temperley London Faberge Lattice Clutch Handbag
Temperly London has taken inspiration from the old-fashioned art of fabergé eggs and gone somewhere modern and glamorous. This Fabergé Evening Lattice Clutch features a gold-tone metal lattice with fuchsia silk-satin underneath and an enormous (almost as big as the bag itself) white tassel embellishment hanging off one side. It opens on a hinge of course, and has a press clasp fastening at the top and a black velvet lining on the inside. This is one of my favorite little clutches to date, although I wish it came in a silver version. $1,550

Highland Park 1968 Whisky

Highland Park 1968 WhiskyThis spring Highland Park is launching Highland Park 1968, a blend of 8 different 40 yr old whiskies that marks the first of 10 vintages planned for release by Highland Park over the next 5 years. Described as lighter than its younger cousins, with a golden amber hue and deep chocolate notes, what really makes this scotch stand out is its price tag of $3999 a bottle -- a price which is making it unclear who will stock it. As of now no bars in New York have signed on to offer it, but experts say casinos will be likely takers along with a few smaller or private establishments.

Pleated Silk Satin Fold Over Anouk Clutch, Handbag of the Day

Stella McCartney Anouk Clutch HandbagIt's cloudy as I write this and I can't help but imagine how nice it would be to have this bright pop of vibrant pink to lighten things up. It's the Pleated Silk Satin Fold Over Anouk Clutch by Stella McCartney and the name pretty much says everything. A pretty evening bag with goldtone hardware that includes a gold Stella logo tag. The interior is fully lined in silk satin and has one large interior pocket. Perfect for spring! (Or honestly any season, when does pink not work?) $755

The Zambezi Queen: Green Luxury Meets African River Safari

Zambezi Queen Luxury Safari Cruise
The Zambezi Queen recently set sail for its debut voyage in Botswana and made history in the process as Africa's first luxury river safari and first eco-friendly floating luxury hotel. The Zambezi Queen takes two and three night voyages down the great Chobe river, where its sleek contemporary design contrasts with the lush and wild African landscape. The ship features 14 suites with private balconies for enjoying the view, a dining room overseen by top South African chef Pete Goff-Wood, a library filled with documentaries on African history and wildlife, internet access, a bar with a stylish lounge area and wood-burning fireplace, a shaded deck, and an outdoor pool. To promote conservation and sustainable tourism state-of-the-art technology was used to make the ship as eco-friendly as possible, including a special jet-propulsion system that reduces damage to the river bed and a low-emission power system for on-board electricity needs like lighting and refrigeration.

Safaris have always seemed a bit scary but this seems like a relatively safe way to experience the African wilderness -- from the luxurious viewpoint of a floating private balcony. Rates vary depending on season.

Paula Mendoza Rings are Raw, Earthy, and So Ugly They're Beautiful

Paula Mendoza RingOff balance, unexpected, and definitely meant to draw attention, raw emeralds take center stage in this collection of rings by Paula Mendoza that I stumbled across over at Vivre. Raw can describe more than just the gems, as the designs themselves evoke a very primitive and unpolished (figuratively and literally) vibe as chunks of emeralds and other gems are paired with dented and misshapen 24k gold vermeil for a results that looks almost as if it could have been pulled directly from the Earth as is.

I think they're really ugly but also quite beautiful. Very fluid and abstract. I'm a huge fan of raw gems though so that could be part of it, what do you think? $325 - $650

Disney Mobile Diamond Cell Phones

Disney Mobile Diamond Cell Phones
The latest in the Disney Mobile line is the DM005SH, which despite its boringly technical name is actually a very whimsical and fun design. The clamshell-model phone features your choice of 3 bright colors (complete with Disney-esque names like "Sunrise Pink", "Midnight Blue" and "Stardust White") with 22 diamonds in varying sizes scattered randomly across the case like stars. All random except for one little set of three that are arranged in the shape of a tiny Mickey Mouse (find it like Where's Waldo, can you see it in the picture?). Pricing hasn't been announced yet.

Dolce & Gabbana 'Miss Helen' Crocheted Shopper, Handbag of the Day

Dolce & Gabbana Miss Helen Crocheted Shopper Handbag
I, for one, don't think there's enough crochet in the world of fashion. It's a bit of a lost art. Dolce & Gabbana must think so too because they've come up with this pretty Miss Helen Crocheted Shopper as part of their Spring 2010 collection. It features pretty crochet over lambskin leather and has two pairs of long leather tassels and a set of mixed-metal chains draped over the front for a nice contrast of old-fashioned and modern. A great way to incorporate a chunk of black into your spring ensemble. $1,895.

Miu Miu Mixed Leather Tote, Handbag of the Day

Miu Miu Mixed Leather Tote
This Mixed Leather Tote by Miu Miu is all about texture as it blends bunched glossy leather in mixed shades of blue on top of a solid blue matte leather base. Short, double plated handles add yet another texture, while a little ruching on the sides and goldtone hardware jumps out as the only other adornments. The bag has a zipper along the top for closure as well as a hinged clasp fastening, plus there's an adjustable and detachable shoulder strap if you want to switch things up. The interior is lined in black and features one interior pocket with zip closure, and the bottom has four goldtone metal feet. $1,750

Jimmy Choo Zap Sandals with 'Light Up Detail'

Jimmy Choo Zap Light Up SandalsAt first glance this strappy Jimmy Choo doesn't look all that special, but underneath all that shiny black leather and trendy color block accents is something you'd never guess: a tiny electric switch and lights. Yes, lights.

Now it's a shoe fit for a superhero.

The Zap Sandal will be available sometime this spring (although you can pre-order them now) and is made of patent leather and suede with a chunky platform, 5.1" heel, and 'light up detail' that is sure to make every step unforgettable.

I just love it, although I really want to know exactly where it lights up -- if anyone finds out let me know in the comments. $2,495

How to Use Aromatherapy

aromatherapyMost of us treat ourselves with aromatherapy without even thinking -- ever taken a whiff of your coffee as it's brewing and instantly felt more energized? Or lit a scented candle after a long day's work to help yourself relax? The world is full of fragrance, and aromatherapy is the art of harnessing specific smells and using them to improve a person's health, mood, and overall well-being. Here's a basic guide to which aromas are relaxing, which ones are energizing, and which ones can help give romance a boost.

If you want to relax:
Lavender, Chamomile, Vanilla, Rose, and Sandalwood all have calming and soothing properties, and especially when combined with relaxing activities can really help relax muscles and eliminate headaches. Try lighting a candle scented with one of these oils next time you sit down to read a book or take a long soak in the tub.
