After reading my article on this amazing Gaveau
grand piano, a devoted Luxist reader told me about his Virtual gaveau Museum project. Oskar Janssen set up the
group so that fans and admirers of Gaveaux can look at them in one place. The elephant grand is undoubtedly the
centrepiece, but there are many wonderful pianos to feast your eyes on.

The Ashes cricket series has been a televised success, bringing millions to their TV screens to watch tantalising
cricket. If your style vision was turned on, you would notice that every player on the field is equipped with a sleek
pair of Oakley M-Frames. This apparently, has led to a boom in sales for the model which was once only considered by
competitive sportsmen. Whilst they may not be everyone's cup of tea, their unique lens shape and flexibility make them
perfect for the more active punter, while a broad range of lenses is available. They're also great for golf.

height="175" hspace="4" vspace="4" width="250" />The Times has named Sandbanks, Dorset as the most expensive
seaside property location in England. The average price for property there is an eye-watering £531,280. This is over
£200,000 more than second place Lymington, Hampshire, which levels out at £318,831.

I want to know what you think; would you buy a seaside house in England, whose weather is at times tempremental to
say the least, for that kind of money? Or does the peacefulness and rurality of the Land of Hope and Glory tempt you?
Please do comment.

Okay, so they're no haute couture, but training shoes are essential items of the wardrobe for your sporting
interests. NikeiD gives you the opportunity to design a pair of Nike trainers, personalised just for you in case
someone else in the country club has a pair almost similar. While you can make an appointment at NikeiD in Manhattan,
it's probably easier to do it all on their website.

Not being a very serious "podder", I seeked a basic case for my iPod Mini. Despite Deidre's abundance of advice
on the world's finest cases, I opted for a tan leather model from a company I had never heard of, Covertec. I wasn't
expecting a lot; the name suggested that it came from a factory in Taiwan, but they proved me wrong indeed. My tan
leather iPod mini case, handcrafted and all, came in a luxury presentation box- a nice touch- and was made of soft
nappa leather. I was pleasantly surprised with its bespoke quality, and would wholly reccommend their cases to
business users.

customary "BMW Season" information by post or email. In case you have been too busy reading Luxist, here are the main
events they are promoting: the Goodwood revival, which conveniently occured on 16-18 August; their FineArt Driving
Tours (look out for a more in-depth review on that); and the BMW Oracle team's participation in the Louis Vuitton
through September and October in southern Europe.

Yet another high-quality schedule from BMW- which event would you most like to see and why?

height="178" hspace="4" vspace="4" width="250" />Having found out that iPods aren't invincible, I set about looking
for a case. The first place I turned to, of course, was Luxist, as Deidre has covered some awesome designer cases
already. Here is an alternative; A.B. Sutton's custom range of cases for the iPod, iPod mini and even the shuffle. Each
is lined in silk imported from India, and sumptuously stitched with high-quality leather. The colour options are
endless- you can even choose what shade you want your stitching to appear in. Expect to pay a three-figure sum for most
of the cases, and wait a few weeks, as they're made to order. A nice touch is that each is individually numbered.

height="187" hspace="4" vspace="4" width="250" />As if it could get any better, Bombardier's Learjets are all, I
think it's fair to say, luxurious. The Learjet 60 Special Edition performs like a rocket, and the cabin is
well-equipped and very roomy, with acres of stand-up and width space. Submersed in wood and leather, the cabin is
perfectly designed for long flights. Although its modern componentry significantly reduces maintenance, Bombardier
includes a whole host of warranty and finance options.

When Alan Brind's 265 year-old English violin was stolen last year, he never expected to find it. However, the
copped violin was offered at a Bonham's auction in London- and he got it back. This special reunion meant that Mr.
Brind, a member of the Londond Philharmonic Orchestra, could starting playing his £20,000 violin once more. He said

If a convenient location is preferred over a secluded one, then this may well be the island for you. Red Rock Island
is situated in San Francisco Bay, and it's the only privately owned one in the area. Its area comprises nearly 6 acres,
and has a summit height of 172 feet. You'd get a great view of San Francisco from it, and of course going to work in
the morning isn't much of a problem either. Priced at $6,500,000.

height="250" hspace="4" vspace="4" width="200" />ATS Bullion have just releaed their newsletter, wherein some good
news was to be found for the gold market. Investor interest is surging, and there are many factors ensuring this; "Many
see this as a hedge against inflation, some as a safeguard against other investments and some even think that this is
just the beginning of a boom in the gold price." Of course, surging oil prices are also, excuse the pun, fuelling
interest in gold.

The Krugerrand (pictured) is still the most popular for ounce coins and bars, not least because it trades at
the lowest price, but others are looking to diversify their portfolio with sovereigns.

I've talked about Arts of Africa and Aboriginal art before, but Indian art is totally different. Generally more
elegant and muted, Christie's have seized the opportunity to stage such an auction on 23rd September 2005, in London,
starting at 10am. Go along and be surprised; Indian art doesn't require a long "taste acquisition period" like many
cultural art types.

The Luxury Shows will take place at several big cities, from October to February. They aim to showcase the finest
products the quintessential jet-setter may ever desire, and as usual a vast array of exhibitors has signed up.
Especially good for travel fans, I'd highly reccommend a trip to your nearest show- you never know, we may even have it
covered! Look out for more details.

I have a great interest in the precious metals market, and as such am following the Indian "Gold Season" with
interest. From what I see, it should be a pretty good year. As so many Indians are farmers, a good crop yield will
mean plenty of money to spend- and the harvest will probably be a decent one, with prevailing monsoons fading away,
rice crops will be doing well. As you can see, this is a unique market, and just goes to show that in such a huge
country, gold sales still rely heavily on old-fashioned agriculture. India is the motherland of gold sales, so
investors will be keenly watching as the season warms up in early September, in preparation for the festivals of Diwali
and Eid al Fitr.

To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Jeans for Genes is to hold a "celebrity denim fashion show". The charity offers
an impressive line up, from, as they call it, High Street to Haute Couture, from brands such as Prada and Stella
McCartney. The A-List will be there- Victoria Beckham and Caprice being just some of them. Tickets are £125, and
include a champagne reception, three course lunch and of course the show itself.

whether to be shocked or insulted that I shared the same artistic taste as an insect. A study by a London University,
which presented bees who had never seen real flowers with five paintings, suggests that Van Gogh was the favourite,
with his painting Sunflowers. Apparently the vibrant colours and well-depicted flowers really buzzed them...

British car maker TVR makes capable enough machines on four wheels - just think what two will be like! A while after
the up-and-coming English sports car marque was rumoured to be thinking of building motorcycles, they announced the
acquisition of Benelli, the Italian motorcycle maker. The bikes will be sold through TVR from next year, how they will
be badged however is still a mystery.

their own castle- well, there's one waiting for you in Munich! Built by renowned architect Leonard Romeis in 1898, a
complete restoration was finished in 1997. Overlooking Lake Starnberg, the Alps can be clearly seen and the fresh
mountain air will take your breath away. A gym, pool and staff house are just some of the features of this $10,000,000
chateau. Or should I say Schloss.

Today we're heading to the waters of Sweden, in what is a rare opportunity to purchase a private island there. At
just less than 4 acres in size, this island is around an hour north of Stockholm and ten minutes away from the nearest
marina. Electricity and telephone have already been taken care of, and the local supermarket in nearby Grisslehamn
accepts email orders from the island! With a main house and seperate guest house, this island can be yours for 575,000
Euros.

Kingdom. That's according to a Channel 4 survey in Britain, which showed the top and bottom 10 places to live in the
UK. Things like lifestyle, education and environment were taken into account, and this beautiful area came out on top.
Epsom is famous for its world-renowned racing venue, and the quality of life was generally superb.

Belfast, Northern Ireland is to get another luxury hotel. Situated in the city's up-and-coming Cathedral Quarter,
the Merchant Hotel is expected to have over 20 rooms and around 5 luxurious suites. On top of that will be an
unforgettable fine dining experience, along with the jewel in the crown, a VIP Gentleman's Club. The restoration of the
magnificent building in which the Merchant will be is underway, and the hotel is expected to open next year. Few

I've been surprised recently with the amount of people interested in collecting vintage weapons. If you are one of
those people, head up to Gleneagles Hotel on the 29 August, where a vast array of such items will be flogged. There is
also an exhibition of the items in New Bond Street from 15-19 August in New Bond Street, and absentee auction bids will
be taken.

When you look for an antique, decorative piano, a well-crafted design is essential. Many pianos made in the 19th
century benefitted from the skills of fine craftsmen, by whom stunning marquetry and wonderful carved designs were
made. This 1857 Steinway bears all the hallmarks of such a piano. The dark colour, though not a favourite of the era,
brings out the best of the shadows and Steinways of this time did not compromise quality of sound, either.

Is your pre-flight as important as the hours you'll spend in the sky? If that is the case, experts will advise you
to fly Cathay Pacific. Skytrax found Cathay had the best lounges, in both first and business class, in a survey carried
out throughout the last year. Emirates and Gulf Air were, unsurprisingly, fighting for the remaining places. You
could even call it a dogfight...

The Chinese are starting to acquire a heart of gold, according to figures which show a 13.9% increase in gold and
jewelry sales. This is good news for investors, as a disproportionate increase in Chinese demand, along with the start
of the Indian wedding season, could mean the price of gold going up like a Shanghai skyscraper. China's gold
demand was already fourth highest in the world in 2004, and it isn't showing signs of cooling off.

This is nautique at its very best; a small sofa covered in vintage sail fabric, perfect for putting on a yacht. Quba
promise that things can be tailored to your own taste, so anyone with a passing interest in nautica should have a look
at this. On a practical note, sails are very durable and easy to clean, and I bet the neighbours don't have one of
these. On sale at £1,500.

Rugged is in, say fashion experts. Rugged is, in most consumer products, generally tougher, more durable and more
expensive. Executives- ditch those flimsy PDA's and prepare yourself for the urban jungle. Panasonic's Toughbook range
is designed for military and on-site durability, but you don't need to be James Bond to own one. Their PDA is encased
in all sorts of everything-proof casing, probably extending its life and definitely extending its pricetag. One of
these hard-hitting techno-soldiers will set you back around £1,400.

Ever looked at Balmoral and wished you could stage your own royal party? Now you can. The Queen's holiday crib in
Scotland is to open for events, and is sure to be a favourite for wedding receptions. Although there is currently no
licence to perform weddings at the grand residence (pictured), the estate will offer flowers, entertainment and the
all-important catering.

original hallmarks. All the original Victorian fittings are there; a testament to their sureness that people will come
to their store wihout seasonal enticements. Such a range of umbrellas is almost bewildering; after a visit to this New
Oxford Street store, you just can't wait until it rains.

The drinks can is 70 years old, and what better way to celebrate than to commission a specially-designed can by
Zandra Rhodes. The pink design is based on Thai embroidery, and budding can enthusiasts will be able to view the
vibrant design at Rhodes' Fashion and Textile Museum in London (pictured). Luxist will have more details as it is
officially released, so keep checking.

I featured a while back, is set to grow. Its notoriously
good design team will double, from 50 to 100 people during 2006. Having just finished designing the grand interior of a
150ft Benetti yacht, they have now got plans to bring their design services to jets and boats as well. Last year the
firm sold an apartment in Chelsea Square for £27 million, one of the highest prices fetched for an apartment.

Beach huts are never known for being luxurious, but then again, few have solid stone walles, slate roofs and a
chimney. This property, wonderfully named "Fantasia" and as cute as a little home overlooking the beach in Suffolk can
be, is only 10ft from the sea wall and benefits from striking views. There's a sink/lavatory downstairs along with a
room, and upstairs there is a blank canvas, though adding a shower cubicle wouldn't be a problem. At £250,000, it isn't
a cheap beach pad, but it's fashionable, apparently.

This has got me in the mood for cycling somewhere exotic- Ascension Island, maybe, or Madagascar. The Bikamper is a
tent specially designed to utilise the bicycle that you will inevitably have, Using the bike and its front wheel to act
as supports, there are no awkward tent poles to have to carry around. It is made of ripstop nylon and all folds up into
a light parcel that won't be too much trouble to hike around with.

Most people nowadays wear metallic cufflinks, but it is nice once in a while to be a bit more traditional, and
instead opt for the handpainted variety. Brixton & Gill does some of the finest available, and with a large
selection of designs available you're bound to find one that will suit your taste. This set, "4 Vices", is one of the
most detailed.

Don Tabacco knows how to make clocks, there's no doubt about that. What he also seems to do well is design them-
equally as important, in most people's minds. For 19 years he's been conspiring the two skills and making some stunning
clocks, worthy of gracing the halls of a home of any size or age. Particular favourites of myne are the glass ones-
watching the movements of a clock are a fascinating focal point.

It's long been a fact that an aquarium, well-designed and with the right colours, can be a focal point in any office
or corporate space. So if you are in and around New York, consider having House of Fins' expertise transform your dull,
industrial space into a colourful, moving biome of fish. With aquatic experts and marine biologists, you'll get more
then a nice tank and exotic fish; you'll get aexpert advice as to how your aquarium may remain beautiful.

A necklace once belonging to cricket legend Kumar Shri Ranjitsinhji Vibhaji will be going under the hammer on
Spetember 23 in London. A necklace, made of emerald and pearl, is expected to fetch £1.6 million when Christie's flog
the prized piece of jewellry. The Indian cricketer (pictured) must have used his sporting abilities to amass plenty of
friends, as it was rumoured his necklace was the product of a friendship with Jacques Cartier.
