A report has reached our friends over at Gadling that Brangelina is buying a ginormous Italian yacht. According to "sources," the couple have ordered a 240 ft yacht from Privilege Yard on the Mediterranean near Rome. Currently, the yard is confirming that a large order has been placed, but isn't saying whether or not it's for the famous couple. The yacht in question features a 6 suites, a swimming pool, and Helipad.

Personally, I doubt the validity of this story. I think that if Brangelina was in the market for a boat, they would be looking at container ships and/or Noah's Ark to fit their ever growing family.

Are Brad and Angelina Buying A Yacht? originally appeared on Luxist on Thu, 12 Apr 2007 14:08:00 EST. That's the tragedy of youth, wealth, and powerful cars. But, I think we should stand together and ban Paris from the new Bentley Coupe, Brooklands. It would be a travesty to see her ungraciously exit this fine vehicle and have paparazzi crawling on it. Hopefully, its staid styling and land yacht status would keep her away. We can hope. Autoblog was on hand in Geneva for the debut.

Bentley Brooklands originally appeared on Luxist on Fri, 09 Mar 2007 14:03:00 EST. You know, the nauseous feeling that repairs are needed and are gonna be expensive. Well, try having those feelings about your million dollar Bugatti Veyron of which you just lost control. Our brethren over at Autoblog have all the details about this sad event. My question is, "Why would you drive your supercar in the rain?" Apparently, the crash occurred in the U.K. and there isn't much choice about driving in the rain. We want to warn you, the pictures may be disturbing to some. Wondering where to stay? Well, good news is here. The Ritz-Carlton has reopened after a renovation to repair the damage caused by hurricane Katrina. The beautiful hotel was originally the Maison Blanche department store features a variety of restaurants and a lovely courtyard. After Katrina, the hotel closed and the entire HVAC system was replaced along with numerous other repairs and enhancements. While New Orleans might not be the safest city, if you desire to stay over, the Ritz-Carlton is a safe bet.

Ritz-Carlton New Orleans Reopens originally appeared on Luxist on Thu, 08 Mar 2007 18:02:00 EST.
The global rounds of fashion week have brought us a wide variety of styles that range from boring to out of this world. One fashion house that always manages to blast off is Dolce & Gabbana. The Italian duo takes a space voyage with its winter 2008 menswear collection. With loads of metallic silvers, bronzes, and gold, the collection has a very space program theme to it. Coats and and pants reminiscent of spacesuits are blended with sleek sweaters and form fitting leather. Dark suits with metallic ties lend a secret agent feel to the collection all the while continuing the not-so-subtle celestial theme. The item that I feel is the hotspot of the offering is the tight biker jacket in a variety of materials. I'm thinking I'll be needing one.

Dolce & Gabbana Winter 2008 Menswear originally appeared on Luxist on Wed, 28 Feb 2007 14:04:00 EST.
Normally, I don't lust after shoes. I let my sister salivate over Manolo and Louboutin while I stick with Kenneth Cole. Kenneth Cole makes understated, classic, and well crafted footwear. However, I have recently come across a casual loafer that by itself, is a finely crafted driving shoe. But, when the venerated house of Vuitton slaps its famous "LV" across the top, the loafer is transformed from a mere weekend casual shoe to a veritable piece of bling for the feet. Perfect for casual evenings out when comfort must reign.

Louis Vuitton Monte Carlo Initials Loafer originally appeared on Luxist on Thu, 15 Feb 2007 12:02:00 EST.

Right as we went to press with an article about our favorite first class sections, Singapore Airlines announced an overhaul of its own program. Singapore's first class has been a darling of the Asian routes with superlative service and cuisine. What may have been lacking in amenities has surely been addressed by their recent announcement. Starting in December, Singapore will roll out an enhanced first cabin with the largest seats in the sky, a whopping 35 inches across. The seat lays fully flat to create a massive bed with a down-filled mattress, duvet, and fluffy pillows. For entertainment, a mere 23 inch LCD screen will keep you happy with on-demand movies and games. As expected, plenty of Dom Perignon and Krug are on hand to smooth out any turbulence.

Pictures of the new first after the jump.
Continue reading Singapore Airline's New First Class

Singapore Airline's New First Class originally appeared on Luxist on Wed, 25 Oct 2006 14:03:00 EST. For the most part, this means leaving the cattle barn for leather clad chairs and free booze. But there are several airlines that take the experience to the next level. From gadget filled seats that coddle you in comfort to bars and massages, the world of premium class has gotten very competitive and one-upmanship is the name of the game.

Our list is after the jump.
Continue reading Flying High: The Best First Class

Flying High: The Best First Class originally appeared on Luxist on Wed, 18 Oct 2006 10:02:00 EST. This massive 213 Ft superyacht is the third Benetti for its owner and is designed by Stefano Natucci who has designed several other Benetti masterpieces such as the lovely Galaxy. A whopping 6 decks and a 41 ft beam (that's width) give Ambrosia plenty of room for her guests. The decor is acceptable, a little too much beige carpet for my liking, but there are lots of exquisite details to make up for poor flooring choices. No word yet on whether Ambrosia will be up for charter. Cruise on over to YachtForums.com to take the tour.

Benetti's 213ft Ambrosia originally appeared on Luxist on Thu, 14 Sep 2006 09:01:00 EST. Are those majestic hardwoods seeming a little bare? Why not get a rug? Outlandish British designer Paul Smith has lent his trademark bright stripes to The Rug Company to make high quality floor coverings. This swirling rug is of Tibetan wool and comes in several sizes. Take some time to browse through their other rugs as well. There are several that I am wanting for my floors.

Paul Smith Swirl Rug originally appeared on Luxist on Sat, 09 Sep 2006 11:05:00 EST. If ascots and brandy sniffers aren't all that appropriate for your library, maybe you should consider an updated version of the wingback chair. Bill Sofield has designed a fantastic chair that bridges the worlds of traditional English and modern Danish furniture. The American Walnut frame ensures that this piece is built to last. This chair is perfect for those libraries that may have more DVD's than books. Either way, reading or watching, your tail will be happy to sit back in this number.

Manor Wing Chair by Baker originally appeared on Luxist on Sat, 09 Sep 2006 08:02:00 EST. Tired of the same-old lamp designs that spend their lives anchoring some end table or night stand? Well, Bill Sofield for Baker Furniture has created a beautiful lamp that will bring a fresh look to any room. The Kim Lantern is a brass, wood, and leather lamp designed with a natural appeal. The brass twigs, antiqued slightly, accentuate the modern shape of the base and shade. Undoubtedly a way to bring a little zen into your decor, the lamp is available through designers and specialty showrooms.

Kim Lantern by Bill Sofield originally appeared on Luxist on Fri, 08 Sep 2006 20:01:00 EST. Ya'll need to be getting ready for a little bit of Texas to take over the Flatiron district. Fort Worth's beloved leader of fine dining, Tim Love, is taking his award-winning Lonesome Dove Bistro to the Big Apple. A cowboy hat-wearing Texan, Tim Love has found great success with his fine western cuisine at his landmark restaurant in the Fort Worth Stockyards. On September 19th, he brings the great flavors of the west to capital of American dining. With dishes such as Kangaroo Carpaccio Nachos, Duck and Foie Gras Ravioli, and White Tuffled Mac & Cheese, who could deny the luxury of this extravagantly Texas restaurant.

Lonesome Dove Bistro - New York City originally appeared on Luxist on Mon, 28 Aug 2006 20:02:00 EST. And if a glossy black isn't your thing, maybe you should look into something a little more grand. Steinway has recently introduced the premier piano in its "Legendary Collection." The piano, called the Alma-Tadema, is a re-creation of a piano built in 1887 and decorated the artist Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema. The original piano was sold in 1997 for $1.2 million, making it the most expensive piano ever sold. The re-creation is separated from the original by over 100 years and exactly 500,000 Steinway serial numbers. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to own an exact replica of a truly legendary instrument.

Steinway Alma-Tadema Re-Creation originally appeared on Luxist on Thu, 24 Aug 2006 14:01:00 EST. Sometimes, a certain collection will just turn me off to that brand completely. Theory is one design house that can keep me interested from season to season. Luxurious fabrics in stylish, yet simple cuts that highlight a near futuristic vision of male fashion. Comfort takes the forefront, but these are hardly Saturday afternoon sweatpants and t-shirts. These are the bearer holders for the luxury casual market. Think jeans and a t-shirt for a six-figure income. Theory is sold across the country at department stores and company-owned boutiques. I'll be checking out their outlet store near me, maybe I'll find some deals.

P.S.
Theory's Women's collections are beautiful as well and definitely worth a try.

Theory Men's Fall 2006 originally appeared on Luxist on Mon, 14 Aug 2006 11:01:00 EST. The handbag that she has decided to go begging for is the quite smart looking LV Stamped Bag PM. A pleasant little bag that is sure to be an exclusive hit across the country with only 1200 sold in the U.S. A smaller version of the hefty GM, the bag is made of suede with glossy leather accents and an alligator-style handle. We prefer the red-ish color over the grey because the logo imprint stands out better. While my sister may have to go on dreaming about this bag, (it doesn't seem a practical gift for a college student,) you can take one home today, if you can find one.

Louis Vuitton Stamped Bag PM originally appeared on Luxist on Mon, 14 Aug 2006 09:04:00 EST. For those times that you want to man the helm of your own yacht and take charge of its operation, it's best to maybe get something that can be somewhat easier to handle than a 200' megayacht. A yacht that would be perfect for the weekend in the islands with a group of friends is the brand new Northcoast 87. This 87 foot beauty is a testament to classic American nautical design and craftsmanship. Built in Washington State, the 87 is a composite fiberglass vessel with a range of 1500 miles and can accommodate 8 guests. And much to our joy, the interior is a understated modern look with light wood paneling and lots of windows. And if you're feeling lazy, there is accommodation for 2 crew members to handle all the hard stuff.

Northcoast 87' Motoryacht originally appeared on Luxist on Sun, 06 Aug 2006 19:04:00 EST.

I just returned from a well needed getaway to Las Vegas and had the most wonderful experience of dining at the fabulous Daniel Boulud Brasserie in Wynn Las Vegas. After a day of flying and getting to Las Vegas, the last thing I wanted was a strenuously formal dinner at any of the other gourmet rooms in town. Instead, the casual atmosphere of the Brasserie fit perfectly. The food is phenomenal while the environment is soothing and relaxed. I enjoyed the legendary DB Burger, the $29 burger from Bistro Moderne in New York, while my sister dined on Penne with Truffles and Chanterelles. Dessert was indulgent with my Valrohona Chocolate Souffle and my sister's Chocolate Turtle Coupe. Each dish was perfect and served by a team who made sure everything was to our liking. The entire experience was remarkably priced and a great value for such divine food and wonderful service. In fact, the entire Wynn Las Vegas property is a study of refined luxury and my new favorite in Las Vegas.

Daniel Boulud Brasserie @ Wynn Las Vegas originally appeared on Luxist on Sat, 05 Aug 2006 09:03:00 EST. The course is a wild, seemingly untamed beast designed by Greg Norman amidst towering dunes and tranquil streams. After a day of golf, retire to the lodge with stone walls and views of the ocean. If you've worked up an appetite, dinner is served in the Long Room with a menu crafted and developed by James Beard Award winner Tom Colicchio, of New York's "Craft" fame. The rooms are actually owned by members of the club and are a decorated in an Irish Country decor that is simple and comfortable. This resort is bound to become a favorite with the golfing community, so visit before it's hard to get in.

Doonbeg Golf Club originally appeared on Luxist on Sat, 29 Jul 2006 12:06:00 EST. Normally, I would hesitate at anything that boasts of being "subtly mismatched," but the collection manages to come across as relaxed euro-trash on vacation. (That's a good thing) Men's trousers are well cut and jackets are very well suited to an evening out. Several of the bags are certainly regrettable, but the ones that rock surely cover up those other problems. All in all, the collection is good, although I don't know about the overuse of large lapel pins.

Louis Vuitton Menswear Spring/Summer 2007 originally appeared on Luxist on Sat, 29 Jul 2006 11:02:00 EST. The hotel will have 43 rooms with views of the surrounding vineyards and modern amenities and service provided by Starwood's Luxury Collection. A rooftop bar and lounge will ready guests for gourmet delights at the restaurant which promises to be gastronomic delight. Situated in the heart of Toronto, this opera house is a modern showplace that cost $181 million to build and received its name from the Four Seasons Hotel Group, who ponied up $20 million for the project. Besting last year's top name, Maybach, Rolls-Royce scored higher in quality, uniqueness, and exclusivity than its German competition. This comes as no surprise the countless Rolls fanatics that simply cannot imagine driving anything other than a British-made behemoth. With the stellar Phantom and soon-to-come convertible, Rolls-Royce stands to maintain its edge with great innovation and a tradition of excellence that has made it famous all these years.

Via: Autoblog

Rolls-Royce, The Car Of Choice originally appeared on Luxist on Mon, 17 Jul 2006 15:04:00 EST. After all, we have to get through a mid-term election, cold winter, and who knows what else till we start thinking about a wild spring break and summer breezes. But in the world of fashion, spring/ summer 2007 is already here. Oscar De La Renta has recently unveiled his resort 2007 line and it is the pinnacle of laid-back style and refinement. No matter where your yacht makes call, these garments will speak of your grace and charm without you saying a word. Look for the designs to hit the stores by November.

Oscar De La Renta Resort 2007 originally appeared on Luxist on Fri, 14 Jul 2006 08:14:00 EST. Well, last year the city celebrated the opening of its very own modern masterpeice, the Copenhagen Opera House. Situated on the island Holmen, in beautiful alignment with Amalienborg Palace and the Marble Church, the opera house seems to float across the water from its baroque counterparts. A gift to the country from Maersk founder A.P. Moller, the opera house is built of glass and stone with a positioning that reminds us of the Sydney Opera House. Patrons can arrive to the opera by boat from the city and make a grand entrance into a marble foyer surrounding the maple clad performance hall. So, next time you're in Denmark, be sure to catch a performance in this world class facility.

More pictures after the jump

Copenhagen Opera House originally appeared on Luxist on Mon, 10 Jul 2006 09:02:00 EST. While tasteful patriotic decor maybe hard to come by, we feel that Sevres, one of the world's most celebrated porcelain factories, did a fantastic job of rendering the likeness of Benjamin Franklin. Actually, the design was made in 1779 by Jean-Antoine Houdon who's work graces the Louvre and the Met. Certainly worthy of a place of honor in your library or study, this bust tastefully recalls those whose writings and work led to the creation of our great country. This bust is available from Moss for $5,400 so forget that whole "penny saved is a penny earned," thing.

Benjamin Franklin Bust By Sevres originally appeared on Luxist on Sun, 09 Jul 2006 17:38:00 EST. And for the truly fashionable male, Savile Row represents a "holy grail" of style and refinement. One of the more recent editions to the list of fine tailors of Savile Row is Spencer Hart. Launched in 2002, Spencer Hart captures the essence of classic style and tailors it for today's modern tastes. The style is delightfully jazz-age inspired with skinny ties and crisp lines. Fabrics are luxurious and are from the best English mills. The world of male British musicians has taken to Spence Hart rather well with Duran Duran, David Bowie, and Robbie Williams all enjoying these fine garments. Other than at several establishments in the UK and Japan (including his own store in London), the only places in the U.S. that you can find Spencer Hart is at Bergdorf's in New York and Wilkes Bashford in San Francisco.

Spencer Hart, Savile Row originally appeared on Luxist on Thu, 06 Jul 2006 11:02:00 EST.

Not far from where I grew up in North Carolina was an extravagant old house named Chinqua-Penn that was periodically open to the public. Inside, treasures from the former owner's world travels lined the halls and rooms. It was a mansion built with tobacco money in the roaring twenties and at 31,000 square feet, was far from cramped. Located in Reidsville, 20 miles north of Greensboro, Chinqua-Penn is set amid the rolling farmland of North Carolina's Piedmont region. The house had been given to the University of North Carolina and it opened the house to the public. Budgetary constraints caused the house to be closed in 2002 and now the University is selling the house to fund scholarships. The house is an eclectic mish-mash of styles and sits on 23 acres of landscaped gardens. Of the numerous notable features is the Chinese Pagoda pool house and the clock tower with chimes. The house is being offered either with or without the massive collection of furniture and art that tacks an extra $2 million onto the asking price. Don't let this fantastic home fall into evil hands!

More Pictures after the Jump!
Continue reading Chinqua-Penn Plantation, Estate of the Day

Chinqua-Penn Plantation, Estate of the Day originally appeared on Luxist on Wed, 05 Jul 2006 13:04:00 EST.

While the dollar has been bouncing about currency markets worldwide, the Russian ruble has been relatively stable in comparison. This has sent Moscow to the top of the world's most expensive list. Housing prices in the Russian capital are largely to blame as foreign workers are fighting for decent residences. The flailing Yen knocked perennial top seat Tokyo off to number 3. New York City remains the most expensive in North America and London tops the list in Europe. At least you can get deals on vodka and caviar.

Via: CNNMoney.com

Moscow: World's Most Expensive City originally appeared on Luxist on Tue, 27 Jun 2006 15:06:00 EST. Now, I know you're thinking that more shopping is the last thing you need, but if you can make it past the Christian Louboutin shoes and catch an elevator up you'll find a pleasant place to fill up. Simply named BG, this cafe is a perfect place to recharge after a busy day of retail therapy. The cuisine is called American Nouveau, which basically means "new versions of old favorites." What makes this place special is the fabulous decor by Kelly Wearstler. The blues and greens are soothing and Central Park views aren't too shabby either.
BG @ Bergdorf Goodman originally appeared on Luxist on Fri, 23 Jun 2006 08:01:00 EST. Built in 1956, the hotel was a favorite of celebrities visiting Scottsdale and today it's in the heart of the booming downtown arts district, attracting the young and hip. Massive renovations began in 2004 and the hotel was reopened in December 2005. The renovation kept true to the original style and details while adding modern touches such as Phillipe Starck bathtubs and a trendy spa. As a warning, this isn't a Four Seasons. Rooms are accessed via outdoor hallways, much like a motor lodge. But what counts is the luxurious room and awesome am entities waiting for you. The hotel has 2 restaurants, Cafe ZuZu is an old school hotel dinner serving stylish comfort food and Trader Vic's, the famous Polynesian Tiki Room. Certainly this gives you a reason to head out to the desert and catch up on your pampering.

Hotel Valley Ho, Scottsdale originally appeared on Luxist on Thu, 22 Jun 2006 16:02:00 EST.

The Italian yacht builder CRN, has been building yachts since 1963. Their most recent launch, Ability, continues a long history of excellence and ingenuity. Launched earlier this year, Ability is a 177 ft motoryacht capable of coddling 12 guests in lavish surroundings. A key feature of the vessel is the experience of the outer decks. Around every corner is a chance to take in the sea air or sit and contemplate the ocean. The master suite features a private deck for ocean views. The upper decks have couches and spa tubs in which to relax and watch the world go by. And if the weather isn't cooperating, a baby grand piano or the seaview gymnasium can keep you occupied.

If you have been reading any luxury publication lately, it seems that you can't turn a page without seeing an ad for a new condo development here or there. One particular set of ads caught my eye recently. Mostly it was the glamorous photography that features beautiful people in some state of disrobement, lounging about in expensive sunglasses. Upon further investigation, the ads were for a new marina/ retail/ residential development in St. Thomas. Yacht Haven Grande is an ambitious project that features space for yachts up to 450 ft, right along side the major cruise ship port, Havensite Pier. The complex has a yacht club and numerous retail and restaurants and looks to be a perfect place to park your Benetti while cruising the Caribbean.

Yes, the picture above is from the advertisements.

Yacht Haven Grande, St. Thomas U.S.V.I. originally appeared on Luxist on Sun, 18 Jun 2006 16:01:00 EST.

While to some surf and turf may seem like a weekly special down at the Red Lobster, Edmiston has something different in mind. The surf happens to be a 163 ft. yacht designed by the fabulous Jon Bannenberg. Thunder, as it is named, is a modernist yacht by Australian builder Oceanfast. We have previously covered Thunder B in the past, but Edmiston has sweetened the deal by adding something else. A little lightning or some turf to go with the yacht. Yes, for the same low price of 23.5 million euros, you can have the yacht AND a specially built Range Rover. The Lightning edition Range Rover Supercharged has a customized paint job and interior that complements the yacht. A 400 hp V8 engine makes sure that the drive to the dock will be a quick one. Whilst we are normally wary of sales gimmicks, this is one package deal that certainly is worth checking out.

Thunder & Lightning - Surf & Turf originally appeared on Luxist on Sun, 18 Jun 2006 14:06:00 EST.

Nature inspires many artists in a multitude of ways. Some interpret it onto a canvas or form it into sculpture, but rarely can it be turned into dramatic lighting. And dramatic lighting with an incredible bling factor at that. The Swarovski Blossom Chandelier was introduced in 2002 and has been featured in design installations and in museums around the world. Handmade in Italy, this large "branch" is outfitted with 200 LED lights that enhance the Swarovski crystals natural sparkle. Having one of these int he house is definitely a way to keep the spring with you year-round. Since then, Van Cleef & Arpels has been at the forefront of style and taste, providing their customers with some of the world's most glamorous jewels. Their centennial year has been quite a busy one with the redesign of the Fifth Avenue store in New York and some exciting pieces to celebrate their birthday. This year's couture collection is outstanding as usual and features some daring shapes and vibrant colors. Van Cleef & Arpels has seen many fads come and go, but they have held constant in their superb quality and eye for detail which will ensure another 100 years to come.

100 Years of Van Cleef & Arpels originally appeared on Luxist on Tue, 30 May 2006 09:03:00 EST.
