DeWitt Academia Quantième Perpetuel Sport Watch
The watch isn't new, but this red bathed version is. Logically this watch should not look good. If you explained the concept of it to someone on paper, you'd be describing a mess. Though it does in fact seem to be greater than the sum of its parts. It comes across as cool - certainly more so that the original Academia Quantieme Perpetuel watch.
The perpetual calendar movement is the caliber DW 7004 automatic with a retrograde date and day of the week indicator. There is a subdial at 12 o'clock with the month and leap year indicator. As the bottom of the dial is a neatly integrated moon phase indicator that looks to be float in a night sky. Note the radiator grill style mesh pattern of much of the dial. The layout is thankfully symmetrical, but the date isn't too easy to read as the markers as so close together. All together a nice looking dial that is complex almost to fault, but DeWitt just manages to pull it off.
The case is very typical DeWitt. This Sport version is 44mm wide and in titanium. Between the titanium are a series of rubber inserts. The strap is rather chic being in black alligator with two rows of bright red stitching. There won't be too many Academia Quantieme Perpetuel Sport watches, as DeWitt will offer them as a limited edition of 50 pieces only.
