Architecture, Nature & Elegance at Amanyara, Turks & Caicos

Amanyara Turks & Caicos

We recently reported on JetBlue's great new direct service to the island paradise of the Turks & Caicos. To help you plan your glamorous getaway, Luxist is featuring the best of the Caribbean hotspot's luxury resorts. Next stop: Amanyara, one of the world's most alluring escapes.

Incredible architecture in an unspoiled tropical setting sets the Asian-inspired resort apart from the crowd. Nestled on a beautiful coastline within a 4,000-acre nature reserve, it's a private and exclusive hideaway with a refreshing contemporary feel and a staff catering to your every need. Transcending the concept of mere rooms, the resorts accommodations are located in pavilions and villas scattered across tropical vegetation with ponds and private pools.

Arriving at the resort in one of Amanyara's fleet of Land Rovers, one enters through a large reception pavilion opening onto a central reflecting pond. Surrounded by mahogany trees, the pond is framed on one side by a library and boutique and on the other side by the restaurant and bar. The circular bar (above) offers a dramatic soaring roof and sea views fronted by the 164-ft. infinity pool and sun deck. The pavilions are private, perfectly designed contemporary retreats with glass walls allowing you to revel in the natural splendors.

The resort derives its name from aman, the Sanskrit word for 'peace', and yara, the word for 'place' in the language of the Arawak Amerindians, one of the region's first indigenous peoples. From its secluded white-sand beach and unusual ironshore rocky coves, to the abundant marine life of its pristine reef walls, Amanyara embraces Northwest Point Marine National Park. There are plenty of activities on the property itself, as well as a soothing spa and fine restaurants, as well as numerous options for excursions by land and sea.

Overlooking a large reflection pond and lush vegetation, the Serenity Villa is Amanyara's spa and wellness facility, spread over one and a half acres. Featuring four double treatment pavilions and a reception and relaxation pavilion, the spa offers a variety of massages, wraps, scrubs, facials and beauty treatments. The Serenity Villa also offers an outdoor yoga sala for morning yoga sessions.
