The Classicist: VO Guns Debuts the Falcon, World's Most Expensive Rifle, for $820,000 [EXCLUSIVE]

Swedish gun and rifle maker VO Vapen, founded in 1977 by master gunsmith Viggo Olsson, fashions the world's most exclusive handmade hunting rifles. Their newest creation, the VO Falcon Edition (above), is the world's most expensive priced at about $820,000. The VO Falcon Edition is a tribute to the deep rooted traditions of falconry in the Arabian world, covered by beautiful engravings of Peregrine and Saker falcons among other luxurious finishes.
The production of VO rifles is limited to a very small number of examples each year. The company holds a royal appointment to H.M. King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, and has found great success with ultra-exclusive rifles made for the Middle Eastern market. H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of Abu Dhabi's Royal Family is another VO enthusiast.
The octagon barrels of the VO Falcon Edition are made of legendary Damascus steel. The beautiful and unique steel is strongly connected with the Arabian world and complements the full stock made of the world's finest walnut root. Only five VO Falcon Edition modes will be made, each individually marked with unique embellishments forming a truly ultra-exclusive collection. The first example is now complete; the next four will be built to order.
"When we came to The Gulf Region for the first time in 2005, we were overwhelmed with the warm reception and hospitality from the leaders and from the people," says Olsson. "We understood that this is a region where people appreciate traditions and true craftsmanship. It took us more than a year to develop and build the barrels. As far as we know, it is the one and only rifle in the world with barrels made of Damascus steel."
The name stems from the steel swords made in the vicinity of Damascus, Syria that first gained its mythical reputation during the medieval Crusades. The blade of a Damascus steel sword was said to be able to cut a piece of silk in half as it fell to the ground and was strong enough to cut through a rock without losing its sharpness.
All VO rifles are based on the firm's patented takedown system, allowing the owner to use several different calibers on the same rifle. The Falcon is the first VO takedown rifle to be built with a full stock. Of course the company also specializes in totally unique bespoke creations, entirely customized to the owner's wishes with pretty much any sort of precious ornamentation you could desire.

The detail on this gun is truly amazing. Just think of the craftsmenship that went into this. It seems Viggo has an eye for detail. Not much of a gun person, myself. We own them, we shoot them. We live in the country...but I can appreciate the beauty even in this oblect.

Rifle I own is more valuable than that one. Why ? I used it in 2009 to shoot a coin at 110 yards without a scope. A football field is 100 yards...Alfie-

What is it worth to me? Not a cent. Guns are used to kill, made to kill. I have no use for them. If they offered it to me for $5.00, I would pass. Or maybe not, maybe I would take it for free, sell to one of these gun nut types and donate the money to the Brady Campaign.

Nancy, you are honestly an idiot. Guns are the reason why we have our world today. The reason why we get oil. The reason why officers can stop bank robberies (you can rob a bank with a baseball bat if you want) etc. Your obviously one of those people who think their shouldn't be guns, but look at how the world was before guns (100 thousand people crashing together with swords) to now (more people die in a car accident)

Why did you bother reading the article?
Personally I think you are a liar and just need some attention.

Some people use guns to kill, but not one firearm on this planet was made to kill.
kmagunsmoke Mar 28th 2011 10:29PM
OK it's been said before, but for your sake i'll say it again.... Guns don't kill people.... People kill people... Sucks but it's true, if it weren't guns then it would be knives, if it weren't knives, then it would be clubs, then next would be rocks. Either way people are violent, some are killers. Through out time well meaning people have sought a way to defend themselves against these types, and yes a gun is a pretty good way. Therein lies a problem, the killers also have guns. OK I have guns, many of them and maybe i'll have more as time goes on. I like to shoot guns at inanimate objects, it's fun. I lived in western C.O. for many years and did not hunt (except with a camera) until i saw my family hungry and deer starving along the highway, then I decided the deer had nothing to eat but we did, so i killed a deer or 100. Yes I killed many deer to feed my family and friends, I got quite good at it, then I left that area , moved somewhere, a place with a job, a place where I could buy food, food that had been killed for me, by someone else. There are deer here but in the last 20 years i have not hunted. I just buy meat at the store that someone else killed, because I'm not a killer. Guns have many uses; ie : law enforcement uses them to protect themselves and you against those killers amongst us. No disrespect intended but you could be killed by a killer at a distance with a Wrist Rocket---I was pretty good with that weapon at one time. But many of those with guns endeavor to keep you safe, as would I.

Sure guns kill people, and cars get people drunk, and spoons made Rosie O'Donald fat.
gbuck270 Mar 28th 2011 11:35PM
Nancy you are an idiot Mrs brady is a gun toating woman that thinks that she should be the only one to do so. Us gun owners who are responsible dont kill people for the hell of it even if we where trained to do so. We leave that up to the idiots. But i bet if they wanted to take your right to shit in your own toilet that may bother you. You must walk down the street with your mouth running about the gossip of the day. you should thank god for gun owners and ex veterns like me who fight for your rights to do so. I bet your sorry ass couldent handle breaking a nail let alone fighting for this country.

Nancy sweety baby!!!
What's it worth to you? Nobody really care's what you think it's worth. It's worth nothing to you, and you believe (since you are obviously superior to everyone) that YOU get to decide, if it has any worth to all other people. And of course you have rejected it as having no value. Well pumpkin, YOU don't get to decide such things. As a matter of fact, your opinion is not valued by anyone. You are totally insignificant to everyone around you. However, one thing is for certain. If it were offered to you, for free, you would sell it, and the Brady Bunch would never see a dime. You would probably take the money, fix yourself up, and try to find a better looking lover than that bitchy gym teacher Mia, you are forced to put up with, day in, and day out.

Why did you bother to read the article. The word rifle was clearly in the title. Or are you one of those terminally insecure twits who has nothing better to do than look for reasons to whine and cry?
I know lots of people who own guns and have never fired them at anything more than a piece of paper...
Guns are made to shoot. The person holding the gun decides what to shoot at.
Hammers are made to strike, knives are made to cut, baseball bats are made to hit, cars are made to drive... the person controlling them decides the end result.
You can act intelligently, benevolently or criminally... or stupidly like you with your keyboard...
Fred Mar 29th 2011 10:16AM

NANCY STINKS
coachj60 Mar 28th 2011 9:30PM
So what caliber was it chambered in? Why does it have two barrels? Why not a scope mount (thanks Ken)? Why not some thorough reporting, since mostly gun enthusiasts will want to read this article.
dgregkenvalmike Mar 28th 2011 9:53PM
THANX COACH----little more info ya think--should we wing this twit???????
schomacker Mar 29th 2011 6:37AM
This is obvviously an item made for peoople that have much more money than brains. It will probably sit forever in rifle collection and never be fired.
