Steven Spielberg Sets Sail on His New $200 Million Megayacht
Famed director Steven Spielberg was recently spotted in St. Barth's and St. Maarten on his new $200 million megayacht, the Seven Seas (pictured above), a stylish 282-footer fitted with every imaginable luxury.
Built by Dutch shipyard Oceanco to the Hollywood mogul's specifications, it has a sophisticated interior design scheme with acres of walnut, teak and rosewood. Its most impressive feature is an infinity pool with a 15-ft. glass wall that doubles as a cinema screen so Spielberg and his guests can view movies while swimming or lounging poolside.
The Seven Seas has accommodation and luxury amenities for 12 guests along with a crew of 26, including a private owner's deck centered on a large master stateroom with a study and private deck area with a Jacuzzi. Other luxury touches include a helipad, fully equipped gymnasium, a spa and massage room and another, indoor cinema. Special stability systems allow the yacht to travel smoothly in any weather at 20 knots so the director doesn't get jostled while viewing his latest masterpiece.

I see this ship as a symbol of what has gone wrong in this country. Overwhelming greed with no bounds. Just cause one fins him or herself in the position to grab lots of cash does NOT make it right. What if ALL dentists charged 10,000 for every tooth they fixed, most of us would have dentures. What if every doctor charged 10 million for a transplant of any kind, alot of dead people no? Instead of blowing 200m on some stupic boat, how about pay raises for your employees or how about cheaper theater tickets. This can be true in any business. No one in this world does anything thats worth more than lets say 1 million per year. There should be a cap on yearly captitol gains in this country. Greed is what built this country, and will be what destroys it. I know nothing will change, so sad.

Looks like the country that comrade speilberg hates so much hasn't been too bad to him.

Come on people, if you had the money, you would buy something like this. Seriously, if your rich you are going to buy nice things. Ok? Now go and provide meals for your own family and stop worrying about other people and what they do with their money.

Hell yes if I had the money I would buy a yacht, but not like this. I'd rather spend the biggest part of the money on whores and beer.

His yacht didn't actually look comfortable or like a warm relaxing home away from home. It has more of a cold commercial look to it. I didn't see a cozy comfortable spot anywhere. It only has room for 12 guests? That rules out any kind of decent sized gathering of family. It might be something for pirates to have an interest in but I'd be bored 10 minutes after the initial tour. The director earned his money by working for it so if this is what makes him happy then kudos to him. As for me, I'd much rather enjoy the real world and sights than the inside of this large cold coffin on the water. It might even give some people an anxiety attack it's so lifeless.

Steve should have let Greg Norman show him how to make a yacht.

Another fine example of the rich with no concern for the futures non renewable resources!

The inside looks like the waiting room at my gastroenterologist's office.

Small potatoes compared to Roman Abramovich's 1.2 Billion Dollar, 536 ft, Eclipse yacht.

Funny to think of him explaining it to his carbon foot print friends - most of whom also own big cars, boats, choppers, jets, etc. All hypocrits. On the good side - he SPENT the money thereby returning it to the economy in exchange for salaries, construction materials, etc. I do get sick of hearing about how successful people aren't doing their 'fair share'. I pay more than 50% tax with fed, state, property, etc. I have no intention of paying more.

I want to ride on that boat.

Like some of the comments here point out, the idiotic leftist wackos whine when someone achieves something on their own without government assisstance. It's true, we're all getting bent over by the goverment.

You people are idiots. I wish he spent 1 billion on it or 100 billion. Do you want to know why? BECAUSE IT IS HIS MONEY. Let me ask you something, if he only spent 1 million dollars on the yacht, HOW MUCH LESS IS YOUR MORTGAGE PAYMENT NEXT MONTH? How much less is your electric bill? How about that car payment? OMG, wait a second, does this mean that NOTHING IN YOUR LIFE WOULD CHANGE whether he spends ZERO dollars on this thing or 100 trillion? Hmmmmm.. seems as though you idiots should maybe work a little more or a little harder and stop being your typical POOR AMERICAN THAT BITCHES ABOUT OTHER PEOPLES MONEY. Guess what, if you were RICH you wouldn't need to bitch about someone elses money, YOU COULD BITCH ABOUT YOUR OWN.

Time for an income tax hike for steve. He won't feel a thing.
stevolimo Mar 22nd 2011 8:41AM

He's a god among pygmies. A colossus of capitalism. I can think of only one way to show my reverence and gratitude for such magnificence: Tax Cut.
