Jade Ocean Building Features Super Luxe Kid's Playroom

The Jade Ocean building in Sunny Isles, Florida features the room shown above, what just might be the most luxurious kids playroom ever. The deluxe amenity for condo owners was outfitted by Florida's high-design children's store Genius Jones. The room includes mini versions of Philippe Starck ghost chairs and a mini Alfa Romeo.
It's not all kids stuff at this building though. The 50-story condo tower also has an infinity-edge pool, an ultra chic fitness center/health club with Technogym fitness technology; a resident only beach club with cabanas, and media and community rooms. Public spaces in the building were created in collaboration with Fendi Casa and the building's dramatic entrance features a six story waterfall.
Residences have floor-to-ceiling glass windows and terrace with panoramic views. Kitchens feature glass kitchen cabinets with granite countertops and stainless steel backsplashes as well as Miele and Sub-Zero stainless steel kitchen appliances. The most expensive unit in the building is a five-bedroom penthouse listed at $6.9 million.

This looks to me like some childless designer's idea for a child's playroom. Most small children seem to gravitate to primary colors. I don't see building blocks, play dough, art easels, rocking horses or forts anywhere here. Poor little kids! Seems to me like this space says "don't touch!"
Carla Mar 11th 2011 11:30AM
You're so right! The whole room screams "Don't touch ANYTHING! Just for show-- not fun!"

Must be nice but not the children fault. My husband and I have worked all our life and put a daughter through college, now living on his social security now that he has parkinson's and trying to keep our home, and they have toys probably worth more than my home. Well guess that's my problem.
Brenda Leigh Mar 11th 2011 12:20PM
y dont you sell the toys in order to keep your home?
Jordan Mar 11th 2011 11:46AM
This looks boring, oh so boring, to the adult me. The kid me would probably have refused to enter this room at all. Although the car is cute, I'd've played with that and used the chair to stage murder mysteries.

Melanie... y dont you sell the toys in order to keep your home?
kessily Mar 11th 2011 1:31PM
You want Melanie to sell toys that belong to someone else, so she can keep her home? Um... that's called stealing.

This is actually disgusting. Looks like kids are expected to bring their own toys along. They'd be bored with this setup within 15 minutes, but maybe that's the goal.

Looked like it had potential until I imagined a kid banging on that damn piano, another one running that mini Alpha Romeo into the tables, kids bonking their siblings in the head with those blocks and snot all over that wingback chair. A good playroom is always a plus with kids, but if you think the design through... do you REALLY want to be wiping PB&J off a $100-plus dollar Philippe Starck ghost chair?

There is nothing but a bunch of cheap looking plastic furniture in there. There are no toys and video games, there is nothing to do in there. There is no color,I get bored just looking at that room. Maybe some kid can crash that pedal car through the window or something, that is for outside. Someone could get hurt riding that in there. I don't think these people ever had any kids.

Definitely no whimsy in this design.

ugly, boring and unrealistic for a child. Looks more like a time out room.

WOW!!!! That is some playroom! There is plenty of room for your children to play. I'm sure they have a great time and no worries of them getting hurt or bored. I LOVE IT!! Very colorful.
