Mad Men Star Christina Hendricks The New Face of Vivienne Westwood

Mad Men co-star Christina Hendricks is hailed by some as a new modern ideal of Hollywood glamour--full figured, voluptuous; a throwback to the days of Marilyn Monroe, Jane Russell a and Veronica Lake.
That is just what U.K. designer Vivienne Westwood was looking for when she tapped Hendricks to front for her Get A Life Palladium jewelry collection.
Westwood told the Daily Mail: "Christina is the embodiment of beauty and we were delighted to have been able to involve her with this new jewelry collection. She has proved to be the perfect model for the campaign."
Hendricks, who plays Joan Holloway on the hit and critically acclaimed AMC series Mad Men, says she has long worn Westwood's jewelry and accessories. Hendricks told the Daily Mail: "She is my favorite designer. As a young girl I would cut out pictures of her dresses from magazines, although I was never able to afford them. Even now I only have one in my closet."
"I admire that she uses her designs to inspire change and the pieces are just so wonderful. I cannot wait to wear them on the red carpet!," Hendricks told the Mail.
Hendricks has scored high popularity on both sides of the Atlantic. Her hourglass figure was highlighted as a positive influence for women by UK Equalities Minister Lynn Featherstone, who said "Christina Hendricks is absolutely fabulous... We need more of these role models. There is such a sensation when there is a curvy role model. It shouldn't be so unusual."
A study by the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons attributed a 10% rise in 2010 of the number of British women receiving breast augmentation surgery in part to Hendricks' influence.
