Sunday Real Estate Round-Up, 02/27/11

From the Wall Street Journal's Private Properties:
--Jigsaw Ranch, a 90-acre Aspen, Colorado estate owned by George I. Rosenthal and Mark A. Rosenthal, the father and son behind Rosenthal Estate Wines and other businesses, has listed for $48.5 million.
--A waterfront Kauai estate that has been in the same family since 1915 has hit the market for $24.5 million. The Faye House, shown above, is listed with Neal Norman of Koa Properties Land & Homes.
--Venture capitalist Fred Adler and his wife, Catherine, are asking $24 million for their ocean-to-intracoastal home in Palm Beach. The listing is here.

--New Knicks star Carmelo Anthony is searching for a downtown rental in the $30,000-a-month range. Potential new homes include 158 Mercer St., the same building where Jon Bon Jovi lives and SoHo Mews at 311 West Broadway where Justin Timberlake has a place. Fellow Knick Amar'e Stoudemire is renting a West Village condo for $37,500 a month.
--Princess Khaliya Aga Khan, the wife of Prince Hussain Aga Khan and daughter-in-law of Shia Ismaili Muslim leader Aga Khan IV, just rented an apartment in the Richard Meier-designed condo building at 165 Charles St. for $19,500 a month.
--Actor Dean Winters, best known for HBO's "Oz," recently checked out a $25,000-a-month rental a couple floors up from the princess.
--A mystery Russian buyer has signed a contract to buy Al and Patsy Kahn's five-bedroom, 62nd-floor apartment at the Time Warner Center for about $20 million. It was originally listed for $33.6 million last year. Last year the couple, which is splitting up, bought Bernie Madoff's penthouse at 133 E. 64th St. for $8 million.
--Former Yankee pitcher and five-time World Series winner David Cone is buying a condo in the $4 million range at the Lucida. The shiny eco-friendly building at 151 E. 85th St. includes a La Palestra fitness center.
--DailyCandy founder Dany Levy is renting a three-bedroom unit at 33 Fifth Ave. in the $13,000-a-month range.

--Rumor has it that Billy Joel was the purchaser of Leona Helmsley's estate, Dunnellen Hall in Greenwich. We heard it sold last fall for $35 million after being on the market for as much as $125 million.
--What is life in a grand English country estate really like? Burghley House, an Elizabethan estate in the English countryside gets around 100,000 visitors a year but is also home to a family.

--Former NFL quarterback Dan Marino has finally sold his home in Weston, Florida. It was once listed at $15.9 million but it sold for $7.2 million.

-- Russell Simmons and his ex-wife Kimora Lee have finally sold their mansion in Saddle River, New Jersey. It was once listed for $23.888 million dropped to $19.888 million and then pulled off the market. It came back on the market, there were more price drops until it reached a final listing price of $13.9 million. The home sold for $10 million on February 15th. The 10-bedroom home is famous for its cinema-worthy home theater, professional fitness center, wine cellar with bar seating and painted rotunda. It has both indoor and outdoor pools, staff quarters and a pool house.

--This year's Kips Bay Decorator showhouse will take place at 163 East 63rd Street, a four-story, 10,000-square-foot home with 16 rooms.

--Qaddafi's second son, Saif, has just put his London townhouse on the rental market for $15,792 a week.

--Pinchas Zukerman. who is considered one of the world's greatest violinists, and his wife, the cellist Amanda Zukerman, have gone into contract on a three-bedroom apartment at the Rushmore, a new condominium on the Upper West Side. The asking price for the apartment was $2.734 million. The couple's main residence is in Ottawa.
The duplex of the late Morton Swinsky, a bond trader and Broadway producer, is listed for $10.2 million. The duplex is stuffed to the gills with high-end clutter which is to be auctioned off at Christie's. The listing is with Corcoran.
--Courtney Love is renting a four-story townhouse is on West 10th Street which was listed by Halstead Property for $28,000 a month. She signed a lease on Feb. 17, agreeing to pay about $27,000 a month.

--Broadway producer, theater operator and former Yankees owner Robert Nederlander has purchased a colorful two-bedroom co-op in the Ritz Tower for $2.25 million. His 510 Park home, which was unlisted, sold for for $3.9 million to Olshan attorney Lawrence Friedland, according to city records.
--Robert Mnuchin one of the city's foremost collectors and dealers, and his wife Adriana have bought 14 East 95th Street, a limestone townhouse for $14.25 million.
--Oilman A.R. "Tony" Sanchez, Jr. has just sold his 3,549-square-foot condo on the top floor of the 76-story Metropolitan Tower for $7.775 million.

--Cubs pitcher Ryan Dempster has reduced the asking price of one of his homes near Wrigley Field to $1.95 million from $2.25 million.
--Retired Chicago Cubs catcher Todd Hundley has put his six-bedroom Glenview home on the market for $1.8 million. The listing is here.
--Former Chicago Blackhawks left wing Martin Havlat has sold his 16th-floor condo in the New Eastside neighborhood in a cash deal for $670,000, $90,000 less than he paid for it in 2006.
--Former Chicago Bulls forward Tyrus Thomas has sold the last of his Chicago-area properties, unloading his eight-room town home in Northbrook on Feb. 1 for $425,000.
