Luxist Giveaway: Financial Advice and a $500 AmEx Gift Card
Enjoying the finer things in life often means spending money but a recent survey conducted by American Express found that a surprising number of people rate finances as a top concern and have questions about how to manage their money. Young people especially are having trouble, with 79% saying they feel overwhelmed by their current financial situation and more than half reporting they're still at least somewhat dependent on their parents or other family members to help pay bills. How do your finances stack up?ZYNC from American Express wants to help and has launched "The Quarterlife Project," a collaboration between American Express and life coach/Gen Y expert Christine Hassler. It aims to help twenty-somethings navigate the confusing world of finance so they can have the life they want without getting up to their eyeballs in debt. Want some advice on how to best manage your spending? Post your money question in the comments section below and one question will be selected and answered on the site in video format by Christine Hassler. In addition all valid comments will go into a random drawing for a $500 AmEx gift card. Financial advice and free money -- what are you waiting for?

Yea when is the economy ever going to recover ? My husband has been out of work for almost 3 years now and his unemployment ran out so now what do we do?

I'd like to see suggestions on how to better educate my kids that they can still be considered successful without having to own a home. Living in an apartment with manageable rent should not be looked down upon.

My question: If you get a lump sum of money, is it better to put it towards your house or put it in the bank to collect interest?
Thank you for offering this!

Should I be investing in Long Term Insurance? I am 62 years old.
Thanks for the contest.

I second the question on long term care insurance. We are in our late 40s and 50s, and wondering if we should buy this. We are not working now, and have enough to not work for quite a while, although probably can't just go into retirement now.

If i have $400 in credit card bills and after paying all other bills have $400 left over, should i pay have of the $200 and put the other into savings to build up cash reserves? Otherwise i am afraid i will have another $400 or more the following month if i pay my credit card off each month but thus do not put any cash into savings.

How much on average do you need for your child's college education? I don't mean Harvard or any other ivy league school. I want to know what an education costs on average. thank you!
