Five Smokin' Valentine's Day Gifts for Cigar Lovers

Of course, we're rarely that easy on ourselves at this time of year!
If you have a cigar smoker in your life, here are five ideas from Vin Lee, CEO of the Beverly Hills Cigar Club, to make Valentine's Day a bit easier for you ... and a bit enjoyable for him or her:
1. S.T. Dupont Limited Edition Shaman Series Lighter: got a grand to burn, so to speak? This impressive piece will set you back $1,000, but it's sure to impress. The white pearlized lacquer with mother-of-pearl inlays is stunning, and whipping this lighter out to ignite a cigar is a clear sign of taste.
2. Bugatti 3 Chrome Satin/Chrome Polished Traditional Flame Lighter: this one won't hurt your wallet as much as the Shaman (at only $150), but it will nonetheless garner plenty of attention. And, it's one of Lee's favorites.
4. Xikar "Executive" Torch Flame Lighter: the Beverly Hills Cigar Club describes this lighter as "sleek, attractive and durable," with a side button that keeps your finger away from the flame. For those of us who have ... ummmmm ... slipped, that's a clear benefit.
5. Davidoff "Giant" Cigar Matches: matches aren't just for those with light bank accounts – they also appeal to a certain breed of cigar smoker. These can be a great accompaniment to a gift of cigars.
"We decided to shine a light on the products from our partners that make cigar smoking enjoyable," explained Vin Lee, CEO, Beverly Hills Cigar Club. "Your iPhone can't light a cigar, yet. So here are five excellent choices."

As a cigar smoker, I'd love someone to get me a cigar of the month club, like one offered at cigar.com or cigarsinternational.com. Lighters are good and all, but a good cigar is usually best lit by a cedar sprig or regualr ol matches.

It's strange seeing advertising for anything to do with smoking unless it's smoking cessation. We have come so far! Sorry, maybe I'm being overly sensitive but this feels like a step backward.

An even better gift to the regular cigar smoker would be a rider to their health insurance policy that would pay for a complete oral and esophageal cancer screening every 6 months and annual lung CT scan to help detect those small cancer nodules that traditional chest X-rays miss. On the other hand if you really didn't like the person, keep them supplied with as many cigars as they could possibly consume each day.

When I was growing up, I remember seeing, during the holidays, some of the nation's favorite stars hawking cigarettes as Christmas gifts--the cast of I Love Lucy, the cast of the Dick VanDyke Show--even the cartoon cast of The Flintstones. Even as a child, I found it odd that someone would give something "so gross" to someone they loved. It didn't make sense then, and it makes less sense now, given what we know about tobacco use. What better way to say I love you than to give them an addictive product which, when used as directed, has a degrading effect on the body! Now, that's love!

I AM SO ASHAMED OF AOL FOR SHILLING AND TOUTING A PRODUCT LIKE TOBACCO! I WOULD REFER TO YOU AS PIMPS, BUT THEN I WOULD HAVE TO APPOLOGIZE TO THE HOOKERS. YOU MUST BE LOSING GROUND SERIOUSLY TO PIMP SMOKING.

Please do not confuse us with "smokers" who smoke cigarettes, those people are generally lower class and prefer to smell like a ashtray, who complain daily about not being able to take care of their families, but will drop close to $2000.00 a year for cigarettes... We smoke cigars in places we like to relax, whereas the "smokers" are people that will look ridiculous and stand in 10 degree weather just to get their "fix"...

Thanks for posting this article. I sent it to my girlfriend and she gave me the Davidoff "Giant" Cigar Matches. They were hard as hell to find. She tried http://www.amazon.com but couldn't get anything.
She did end up finding them at http://www.bnbtobacco.com though. Which was strange, since I always buy there but didn't know they had 'em
