Snapper Creek, Estate of the Day

Today's home had a $1.5 million price cut a few months back but that's not the only reason I'm featuring it. This large home is in the gated community of Snapper Creek Lakes in Coral Gables, Florida. This is an older subdivision, originally developed in the 1950s. It includes a privately owned boat basin with a full-time dock master and security. It offers direct access to Biscayne Bay. Today's home is a six-bedroom plantation style home with delightful wide porches. It's a colorful home with plenty of hand-painted details including a vine mural in the wine cellar. Although it has a luxurious feel with a formal dining room and grand spaces, there is also a warmth to this home that makes it more appealing than some of Florida beige faux Tuscans. The property also includes a pool, dock and two-bedroom guest house. Other nice features include a media room, family room and a generator to cope with potential power outages. This property is now listed at $10.999 million.

Love the house but, omigod, how many clashing patterns can you get in one house?
Jopen Jan 31st 2011 8:57PM
It looks like a redneck/retired/former-adviser-to-the-Persian-rug-emissary decorated this house! Save your money, don't buy this house! Read the top ten mistakes that home sellers make at Http://bit.Ly/moneyminded

Elegant but how many seating areas does one need? No bedroom pics. Weird.

What's with the moosehead? The pool and backyard is all that caught my fancy. They need a refund from the interior designer!

Lovely propety. Not to fond of all the different patterns. No bedroom photos, nothing but sitting areas. In my opinion the whole place needs and overhaul.

I agree with you Suvel2008....very nice house and property but for the price, it looks like some sort of cottage in Michigan or something. And the decor is boring

I wouldn't mind just living on the porch!! Much better than the house...with access to that awesome kitchen of course

Love the yard and pool much more than the house. The kitchen is pretty awesome though.

I like the house. I can see that someone actually enjoyed living there as opposed to just having a status symbol that looks like the grand ballroom of a castle.

This is a nice house except to the little stereo typical racial black characters on the kitchen counter next to the phone. Bigiots always find a way to ruin nice things. I hope this house never sells!!!!!

Love the characters on the kitchen counter next to the phone!!!! I would take this house and everything in it. NICE!!!

This house needs a serious MAKEOVER.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who found the decor kind of odd....not even odd in a kitchy kind of way, just ugly. There was one room that had a couch and understated beige decor with nice accents. The house is nice. I love that upstairs room with the sitting nooks - that could be fixed up nice. The angles were neat. The grounds and porches, I'm with you all - I could just live out there! I'm not even remotely talented in decorating (took me 6 years to pick out curtains), but I have heard the way to sell a house is to make it neutral so the potential buyer can visualize there own style. Maybe they wouldn't have had to drop the price if they had done that.
