Tory Burch Opens Flagship Boutique on New Bond Street in London
Fashion house Tory Burch has opened a new boutique on New Bond Street in London.
The 4200-square-foot London flagship is located at 149 New Bond Street. The boutique resides in a 19th Century townhouse, and the interior has a corresponding residential feel. The first floor features company signatures like moss green floors, gold leaf mirrors, plum snow leopard curtains and orange lacquer details. It also includes unique residential elements like Imari vases, a regency shell chair and a George II claw foot side table.
The space has interesting structural details throughout, including a tented ceiling with a skylight. The second floor includes a living room for VIPs and special events as well as a library to relax in or to feature special collections. There are additional residential pieces upstairs including a knole sofa, raffia rug and plum and ivory diamond upholstery-all elements meant to make the customer feel at home.
The décor, inspired by Tory Burch's lifestyle concept, reflects the iconic style of Tory's first boutique on Elizabeth Street in New York City. The entire Tory Burch collection will be available at the London flagship, including ready-to-wear, shoes, handbags, small leather goods, jewelry, eyewear and accessories. The designer hosted a cocktail party Tuesday evening to celebrate the opening of the boutique. Guests included Thandie Newton, Jacquetta Wheeler, Ophelia Lovibond, Joely Richardson, Laura Bailey and Eliza Doolittle. "I love London," says Tory Burch. "I love the energy. I even love the weather, and now I have more of a reason to be here!"
Since its launch in 2004 as a lifestyle concept with multiple categories, the Tory Burch brand has received recognition from fashion industry including the CFDA Award for Accessories Designer of the Year in 2008. In November 2007, the company was honored by the Accessories Council of Excellence with the award for Accessory Brand Launch of the year. In 2005, the Fashion Group International awarded Tory Burch the Rising Star Award for best new retail concept.
Tory Burch is defined by classic American sportswear with an eclectic sensibility. It embodies the personal style and spirit of its CEO Tory Burch. Recognizing a void in the market for a designer aesthetic at an accessible price point, Tory wanted to create stylish yet wearable clothing and accessories for women of all ages. Launched in February 2004, Tory Burch is carried at 45 freestanding Tory Burch boutiques across the U.S., Europe and Asia, the Tory Burch website and over 500 select department and specialty stores worldwide.
