Cupcake Wars Find Peace in Laguna Beach

Who doesn't love a good cupcake? Cupcakes have replaced cakes in the hearts and minds of all the cool kids, and it's been downright entertaining to watch how elaborate cup-caking has gotten. There's even a Food Network TV show "Cupcake Wars" that brings high drama to the art of what was once the simplest thing to throw together in your kitchen for when the kids got home from school.
One of the players in the cupcake battles has been Casey's Cupcakes, the brainchild of Casey Reinhardt, whose parents own the historic Mission Inn Hotel & Spa in Riverside, Ca. Her first shop opened in her parents' hotel in December 2009 and she just announced that a second shop will open on Feb. 14th -- Valentine's Day -- in her home town of Laguna Beach.

Casey's Cupcakes is taking over a 931-square-foot store space on Broadway and has created a classic Parisian cafe but with some Hollywood twists. The Hollywood part makes sense since Casey started her acting career on MTV's "Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County." .
Reinhardt was inspired by her great-grandmother's homemade cupcakes and incorporates some of those recipes into her creations. "It is my pleasure to hand guests cupcakes from my Great Grandma's irresistible recipe. Each one mixes love with the freshest ingredients to make the perfect treat," she said.
Casey's Cupcakes come in 12 flavors including Rockin' Red Velvet, Sassy Strawberry, Decadent Dark Chocolate and Luscious Lemon. Each month features a different "Cupcake of the Month," generally inspired by the season and holidays. Casey's will make cupcake wedding cakes at the new location. Shop hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
News Update: Casey will appear on "Cupcake Wars" on Feb. 22.
