Chagrin Falls, Estate of the Day

Today we are in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. The small town is a suburb of Cleveland and its most famous depiction might be on the pages of the comic strip Calvin and Hobbes. Artist Bill Watterson used his hometown as inspiration for the small town life of a boy and his toy tiger.
Our estate of the day is a four-bedroom home that was built in 2006 but reflects the charm of a way of life unchanged by time except perhaps by the array of modern appliances. This home's kitchen includes three dishwashers (one for china) as well as a professional range and a warming oven. The well-maintained home has a grand entrance with a black and white marble floor and a large staircase. Columns frame an elegant living room and the formal dining room has a nice built-in china closet. Off the kitchen there is a cozy family room with a fireplace. The sunroom is adjacent to the family room and looks out into the gardens. The lower level has its own wine cellar, exercise room and a separate suite with a guest kitchen. This home is listed at $2.1 million.

I know we all have pet-peeves, some for beams, others for lack of depictions of home theaters. For me: Pillars.

I would really love to see this house re-photographed. Almost every shot has a focal point that is 3-4 feet above where a person would naturally rest their eyes. Look at the bedroom photo with the white coverlet -- the camera was focused at the far corner above the bathroom door like the photographer was pointing the camera up instead of holding it level or as if the person is 4 ft tall.
Kind of distracting.
Other than that - it's kind of tastefully blah.

Love the black and white tiled foyer! Very sharp. When I looked at the outside, I thought I probably wouldn't like the inside but I do. The modern kitchen isn't a fit with the rest but other than that, I love the pilars (and usually do) and the decor. I always thought a desk area in a kitchen was a huge benefit. Somebody has good taste and communicated it to their designer.
Loved your comment, Rich. What has made this so interesting to me since I started commenting here is that we all have distinctively different tastes and I've learned lots from all of you. Everyone has pointed out things I didn't see to begin with! I've even picked up why everybody likes certain things I have not previously opted for in homes. I enjoy EOTD and Luxist.

Perhaps the camera is pointed up to show light fixtures? Just a thought. Showing more carpeting or flooring isn't as important as the light fixtures if they are beautiful as these are. Although, by the same token, I love certain hardwood and ceramic tiled floors so that would be important to me as well.
I didn't notice this until I read your post but you certainly have a good point.

Looks very mcmansiony to me. So long and boxy.
I'd also suppose the photos were shot upwards to showcase the crown molding and light fixtures.
