Villa Abborrkroken, Estate of the Day

Luxist reader M. Theissen said maybe it's time for an estate of the day in Sweden and suggested this beauty. We may not speak Swedish but pictures are worth a thousand words when it comes to this modern treasure on Sweden's Värmdö-Vindö gold coast. The land of Ikea has birthed this lovely contemporary mountain retreat. It was designed by architect John Robert Nilsson and sits on a rocky plateau with beautiful ocean views. The home was built in 2008 and has received attention from both Swedish and international design magazines. The home was placed to maximize the entrance of light into the house. Long bare surfaces of limestone, concrete, glass, black plaster, ash wood within a steel framework are the ultimate in graceful minimalism. The home has a rectangular pool that extends toward the sea. The vitrine-like home is divided into private and public spaces. The living room and kitchen form the public space and there are three bedrooms. A teak stairway leads down to a sandy beach cove with a teak boat landing. It is listed for 39 million kroner (around $5.45 million).

Simple and stunning! Nice to see the landscape in this area of Sweden. Love the private beach area that is carved out - private and lovely.
