Go Hunting at Julian Assange's Country House Hideout

When not serving as a hideout for much-maligned Wikileaks frontman Julian Assange, stately Ellingham Hall (above) in the UK's bucolic Norfolk is available for sportsmen to hunt gamebirds in a classic English country house setting. The 10-bedroom Georgian mansion sited on 650 acres has been a prime shooting ground for four generations of the aristocratic Smith family's ownership. The Ellingham estate offers shooting days in season of between 150 – 200 birds at about $40 per bird, or about $6,000 – $8,000 per day. "Whether you like snap shooting over tall trees, partridges bursting over hedges, or high pheasants flying back to woods, we have something to please all," the estate's listing on the Guns on Pegs site notes. "We work very hard to deliver a smoothly-run but relaxed and friendly shoot. The shoot makes a very good day for eight guns but nine can be accommodated for teams." Ellingham provides refreshments and lunch, and participants are encouraged to bring their own Purdeys and Range Rovers; shooting at Assange is strictly prohibited.

Looks like you can also do weddings at the estate. Honestly, when I read the caption, I thought it would be reviewing a great big rock. One he crawled out from underneath lol.

Why is this guy still breathing ?
eaton0001 Jan 4th 2011 10:31AM
This guy (actually his organization and not him directly -- he's no different than the editor of the New York Times or another major media organization) is doing what American journalists should be doing -- revealing the dark truth about what the American government did under the Bush administration to keep the government honest! He is a modern day Bob Woodward (of the Washington Post in 1972 revealing Watergate). It is sad that journalists are now afraid to do the type of investigative journalism that helps to keep the government honest. The fascist Right Wingers in this country are a major reason why a hero like Julian Assange is suffering in the short term. He'll be cleared and go on to reveal more about what the Bush administration has done. Hopefully American journalists will grow a couple of you know what in the future and start doing the right thing again.

he should get back to what he was doing, exposing the lies from all governments world wide. I would like to see him expose all the lies our government has fed us for the past 20 or so years, then I would like to see all the politicians that have sold, bartered, or flat stole from this country tried as the treasonous bastards that they are. Give the power back to the people and stop exporting our jobs and natural resources to China. We need to bring back "MADE IN U.S.A." with a passion and get our people and coutry back on track period!!!!!!

Assange needs to stay behind his wall. His idealistic but vengeful motivated actions will likely lead to the deaths of several (many? who knows). He will be lucky to live out the year.

GOOD FOR YOU, JULIAN! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND DROP MORE LINKS WHEN YOU CAN. WE KNOW THE GOVERNMENTS ARE CORRUPT.
bigdaddi Jan 12th 2011 6:54PM
Sad to see he is suffering so. When will the torture end?
jay Jan 4th 2011 1:52PM
This guy needs a bullet in his head!
jay Jan 4th 2011 1:59PM
Some one should put a hole in this guys head. He's is no hero. He's putting
every body's life at risk. And our governments are not corrupt. Too many of
you conspiracy theorist out there. Your all nut jobs like this guy.
JLS Jan 4th 2011 2:33PM
You will find that most who consider this man some sort of hero also have trouble with any other authority or rules in life. They don't like the gov't, their boss, and blame their parents for the adult they have become. They are professional contrarians and rail against anyone telling them they cannot do something they want to-in other words anti-establishment types. Julian has put many at risk. There are ways to do what he does that don't put people and countries at risk but do affect change. If you hammer someone over the head with your ideas, they won't hear you and worse yet, won't submit to your ideas. That's him. No finesse, no crediblility, and utter defiance.
Assange needs to change the way he does things if he wants to accomplish anything.

Jared Paul Stern. You put your name of this like its some kind of story?? Its a paragraph, did you do any research on this or was this handed to you to write about and put your full name on. This article is a piece of sh...t period.
This guy is exposing cover ups from OUR government and corporations and people make him out to be a terrorist, the best you can write about is where he is living? Or how much he makes?
Assange is for the people and is for holding whomever responsible for illegal activity whether they are elected officials or not. All it takes is a spark for a revolution and we are playing with matches.

Definition of TERRORISM
: the systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion
**************************************************************************************
I'd say he IS a terrorist by the definition in the dictionary as stated above. He uses terror to coerce people such as you into believing their gov'ts are bad and he is some sort of hero for stealing top secret information in order to save the day. The manner in which he comes by this information is clearly not honorable. Who worships a thief?
If you extract out all of the emotion in your post and talk facts, it's real obvious this man is an international terrorist. He just doesn't do it with explosives. To give him a kiss and a hug and loads of admiration for his illegal activity is absurd.
One last thing. You have no way of confirming any of the information Julian posts. He can author anything himself and call it fact. All he needs is a gullible reader and there you go.
cmbaur Jan 5th 2011 10:01AM
The word terrorist has become numb to me, I heard it every day on the news or various online articles.
A thief? So if there was information you obtained of illegal activity by our elected officials or corporations you would just ignore it? Rather than expose the truth? If so you have no reason to being journalist. Not one person from the government has been formally charged from the economic collapse. Even Dick Chaney who
haliburton paid off the Africa government to keep his crooked ass out of jail.
"He uses terror to coerce people such as you into believing their gov'ts are bad"
Actually the gov't uses terror to coerce people such as you JLS into believing Assange is bad"
Lets talk facts why does the American media portrays him as a terrorist while the majority of the rest of the world and other news outlets portray him as a hero. If he is a terrorist are they all supposing terrorism? Am I? For the record I have not read one cable, I support the underlining principal of freedom of speech whether it gets rich people in trouble or not

You don't seem to have a well balanced awareness here.
Julian Assange has angered governments all over the world. The USA and it's gov't has actually been the most subdued in their response. Read European news online. That might educate you on how the world really feels about this man. The only way Julian has to secure the information he has in his possession is to steal it. That makes him a thief. He is a criminal that will be dealt with eventually in some court around the world. It's doubtful this will end in any other way.
The typical American that supports him is one that has always railed against gov't and authority and he fits their thinking with his junk. It just feels good to them hence the hero thing.
Julian Assange, by the evidence we all have seen, is an international thief. That's solid. Perhaps someday in hindsight, some clarity will prevail.
