Luxist Top Ten Wildest Designer Shoes of 2010

Eternal Borgezie Diamond Stilettos
It was a great year for shoes (although we think every year is) and we had fun covering all the most extravagant, exotic, and indulgent shoe designs of 2010. Glass slippers, solid gold sandals, and soles that light up with every step are among our favorite highlights but see the complete top ten list below and let us know what you think.

Eternal Borgezie Diamond Stilettos
The $155,000 Eternal Borgezie Stilettos were the most expensive shoes in 2010 and took three years for British jewelry designer Christopher Michael Shellis to create. They're handcrafted by a goldsmith and then a jeweler, who encrusts them with 2,200 diamonds for a total of 30 carats of sparkle. Shellis was quoted as saying "The result is not so much a shoe, but rather a fine piece of jewelry that can be miraculously yet practically worn as the ultimate feminine adornment."

Jimmy Choo 'Zap' Sandals with Light Up Detail

Jimmy Choo Light Up Shoe
The 'Zap' Sandal from Jimmy Choo was one of Katy Perry's favorites this year and the strappy patent leather and blocks of bright color aren't all it's got going on -- it also lights up with every step. Certainly not the most versatile design but would be fun for high"lighting" your party spirit this New Year's Eve. $2,495
Q by Pasquale Limited Edition Glass Slippers
Q By Pasquale Limited Edition Glass Slippers
Be a real life Cinderella in these stunning technological wonders from designer Pasquale Fabrizio. Handmade in Italy of Murano glass the collection consists of five limited edition glass shoes that feature accents of 24kt gold, beads, and leather and each come packaged in a glass box with a certificate of authenticity. $7500

Valentino Feather-Trimmed Satin Sandals
Valentino Feather Sandal
Valentino gave a simple pair of strappy khaki sandals a serious fantasy upgrade with tall asymmetrical rows of black rooster feather trim. Despite their high-fashion vibe (and probably very short life span) I think if paired with a simple LBD they're actually quite wearable. $895

Alexander McQueen Floral Engraved Boots
Alexander McQueen Floral Engraved Boots
A combination of soft feminine florals, biker-inspired black leather, and a chunky metal heel make for plenty of eye-catching contrast on this beautiful and unique Alexander McQueen design. The platform Byzantine-inspired floral engraved heel stands a towering 6" tall and all the buckles and mock-croc effects add up to a surprisingly pretty and versatile style. $4,295

Louis Vuitton Daisy Closed-Toe Mule

Louis Vuitton Daisy Closed-Toe Mule
Here we have the wilder side of Louis Vuitton, which apparently leans toward contemporary metallic heels and muppet hair accents. Described as "earth meets modern" this funky mule features a wooden sole, a 1" gunmetal gray heel, a leather upper, and a large tuft of green goat hair. $1,400

Maison Martin Margiela Wood Print Pumps
Maison Martin Margiela Wood Print Pumps
Maison Martin Margiela definitely likes to be different, and so he was when he designed these Wood Print Pumps. They look wooden but are in actuality very convincingly-printed patent leather. Inspired by old-fashioned Dutch clogs they also come off a little futuristic and, in a weird way, cartoonish. $950

"TRON" Inspired Shoes
Tron Inspired SHoes
The movie may have just come out this month but we first showed you this TRON inspired shoe back in October. Designed by Jerome C. Rousseau it's inspired in particular by the fearless female warrior Quorra and it's available now in the TRON pop-up shop in Los Angeles and worldwide in February of next year. $795

Nicholas Kirkwood x Rodarte Wrap Candle Sandal
Nicholas Kirkwood Rodarte Wrap Candle Sandal

I can't even think what outfit these would go with but one thing's for sure: whatever it is these "Wrap Candle Sandals" will be the focal point. They've got red, white, black, black and white together, wraps, laces, and bows. Oh, and of course the bright blue melted candle heel. Anything missing? I think not. $1,605

A. Testoni Alligator Skin Shoes
A. Testoni Alligator Skin Shoes
Last but not least we have these A. Testoni alligator skin shoes, which aren't terribly wild on the outside (although they're hardly dull or boring) but make the list due to their outrageous price tag of $38,000 a pair. Touted as the most expensive men's shoe they're handcrafted using Norwegian techniques and have a goat skin lining and a gold and diamond buckle. $38,000
