Fisker prices Karma Plug-In Hybrid Sedan Starting at $95,900
The Fisker Karma electric luxury sedan was supposed to be priced under $90,000 when it debuts in March 2011. But the company now says the starting price is $95,900.Base MSRPs are now $95,900 for the standard Karma, $103,900 for the Eco Sport version and $108,900 for the high-line Eco Chic model. The price guidance the company had previously given was a starting price of $87,900.
Government tax incentives for the purchase of a Fisker Karma plug-in hybrid will lower the bottom line. Tesla Motors' electric Roadster, Fisker's main competitor, is priced at $101,500.
The Karma will go on sale this March in the U.S. And the company struck a deal earlier this month with China's Grand Automotive Group, a distributor, to sell and service the vehicles in China.
The Karma is a plug-in hybrid, which means it will go a distance on pure electric power. When the battery wears down, a gas-fed motor kicks in to power the battery, which continues to push the car down the road. Fisker has licensed the technology from General Motors, which has deployed it on the Chevy Volt.
The Karma comes with 22-inch wheels (Fisker says it'll be the first production car equipped with standard 22s), 403-plus horsepower rating and the company's promise of achieving 100 miles per gallon in "regular use."

The new car industry (battery powered) reminds me of the light bulb industry. As soon as the government gets ya to buy the new light bulbs and the old ones go out; the new ones cost $15.00 instead of 25 cents. Hmmm... gasoline powered autos, including the top of the line Lincolns and Cadies, range between $35-65,000. Now these new battery cars are going to be sold for $100,000 or more? Sounds like the government is going to inflate the deficiet away. Ya know, I can get an Astin Martin for under $100,000.00. Brother, that's a real car!

I don't think Willy knows anything about cars. This car was built to compete with D-class luxury cars(7-series, A8, S-Class) which all start around $80K(Most S-Classes go out the door at $100k). The Volt and Leaf are $25K and $33K after subsidies which is more in line with "normal" car prices.
