Myrtle Court, Estate of the Day

Today's home looks like it would fit in California with its concrete and steel construction, contemporary lines and lap pool with a view. But this one is in Portland, Oregon. The three-bedroom home is perched on a hillside for perfect views. The home has walls of glass that let in light and the curvilinear shape maximizes the panorama. There is an open kitchen, marble master bath and maple floors. Other details include a 5,000-bottle wine cellar, elevator, private patios and more. It is listed at $4.85 million.

With some duplicate photos and additional estates thrown in for good measure. :-)

I guess I should clarify; if you click on the "Read More" from the post, you get a few additional photos than if you click on "Gallery."
The additional photos look like some duplicates of the Portland estate and a few from what looks like a ranch.

Nice home. I'm glad the owner squeezed in a lap pool. Here's an interesting note regarding the wine cellar: starting at capacity (5,000 bottles), it would take roughly 13.7 years to empty the cellar assuming a 1 bottle per day consumption rate.

Sorry about that, I've removed the bonus photos! Thanks for letting me know.

They are dreaming with this price. I own property in Portland and have spent a great deal of time there in the last 16 years.
Oregon has a dreadful economy and has had long before the national economy started circling the drain. Nobody at this level in life is going to spend that kind of money here.
At this price, it will sit on the market for years. At half this price, it will sit on the market for years. Good luck.

Oregon is a beautiful place - and I do love it. Just wanted to clarify that fact. I have 200 foot Douglas Fir trees (old growth firs) on my property on Cooper Mountain in Beaverton with a stunning view to the West. This home is very private and sits in the most beautiful forest you could imagine. Love the surroundings here in Oregon.
All this considered, if you have to work for a living and are ever thinking of selling your property here, then don't make the move. Many are listing only to find out the property is worth half of what they imagined. This state is riddled with economic challenges and has been for decades.

You are right about the economy here JLS. It sure isn't conducive to buying a beautiful home like this. This home has so many pluses to it; location and access to shopping, theater, sports, dining, etc. Not to mention the view is fabulous.
Too bad this place will lanquish for a while.
