Christmas is being celebrated with extravagance at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi. The hotel, which is one of the world's most expensive, has unvieled an $11 million Christmas tree. The artificial tree is over 42 feet tall and is decorated with silver and gold bows, ball-shaped ornaments and small white lights.

But the tree's real value comes from the jewelry tucked into its branches. On its own it would be worth around $10,000 but the tree is festooned with necklaces, earrings and bracelets provided by Style Gallery, a local jeweler. There are a total of over 180 pieces including diamond necklaces, strings of pearls, emerald and ruby bracelets and more. Although Abu Dhabi is part of the United Arab Emirates, a Muslim country, the tree is meant to dazzle international travelers. The WSJ says the hotel is looking to have the tree recognized as the world's most expensively adorned.
