Cartier Uses Baby Panther To Tempt Luxury Shoppers
Cartier has long used the panther as a theme in its designs and advertisements but this year, as Luxury Daily reports, it's going for cute, showcasing a panther cub as the star of its "Winter Tale" campaign. The multichannel campaign follows the soft, little panther through a snowy forest of littered with various Cartier gift offerings. The Winter Tale campaign includes a dedicated microsite at http://www.wintertale.cartier.com and the a 30-second video spot shown above. On the microsite you can choose from Accessories for Her, Diamonds Forever and Precious Objects for Him all under the watchful eye of the adorable baby panther who pads around and licks a paw in the background.

Are you sure that it isn't a leopard cub and not a baby panther?
Karen Dec 15th 2010 7:18PM
I t doesn't matter, whatever species being used is being abused! There is never any reason to put wild animals in advertising - especially the young!

It's really a shame that a company of the caliber of Cartier would use a baby leopard in their newest marketing campaign. Though they may assure the cub is well treated on set, what happens when this cub's marketing shelf life expires, i.e. it grows up into a dangerous carnivore? Zoos won't take them, sanctuaries are overflowing. Entertainment exhibitors don't keep them for their 20+ year life, just too expensive. They end up sold off at auction to the highest bidder and become breeders, languish in backyards, sold off for parts and hides. Bottom line? These ads encourage rampant, irresponsible breeding. Will I buy Cartier? Not as long as they endorse animal abuse, even if it's subtle and little known.

If I bought this jewlery after seeing the exploitation of these or any animal I would boycott the whole company !!

DISGUSTING use of an animals to sell products! SHAME ON YOU!

I would have to agree with the statements above. Too bad, I loove the new handbags but...will NEVER support animal exploitation. It's not as obvious as Tony the truck stop tiger but the end result is the same. So Cartier has lowered themselves to be in the company of a truck stop? I'm pretty sure if someone lowered my company to equate me with such things, I'D FIRE THEM!

Using animals as props would make me not buy from ur company. Even if I had to pay more elsewhere. Please do what's best for the animals and educate others with your popularity I think would make all the difference. Restore Cartier's image of World Class before it's to late!

Please don't exploit these beautiful cats; they face a bleak future once they grow up. Cartier's beautiful products don't need props, anyway.

disgusting. animals are not advertising tools. respect their life.
DeAnna Outlaw Dec 15th 2010 6:48PM
Shameful! What does the exploitation of exotic cats have to do with selling jewelry? The only 'product' you are helping is the exotic cat trade which is a pitiful and dismal life to these regal creatures. I thought Cartier was of a higher character than to stoop to this sort of animal abuse.
