This is all fine and good, til a 'Katrina' comes through there, and all that pretty water is IN the house along with ALL that nasty, stinky mud. This is exactly why I live in another county NORTH of the Mississippi Gulf Coast at 108 feet above sea level. GREAT place to be.
Gorgeous property, yes, but people need to think of the possible natural disasters that happen, especially along a coastline where hurricanes are very probable.

Lord have mercy! Don't be so ignorant! You don't know hurricanes OR South Carolina at all. Owning a home near Charleston, hurricanes aren't a big deal. 'Katrina' was poor planning and a tragedy in the making. Bless your little heart for not understanding.

Why would they build a frame house in a swamp ?
Donna Nov 30th 2010 10:26AM
Lovely home but I wouldn't want to live there. For those who aren't familiar with S. Carolina, it's hot and humid as hell, that mud really reeks at times and they have these tiny little bugs that bite the crap out of you called 'no-see-ums' that make the mosquitoes look tame. NO thanks!!

They showcase the most expensive houses in the country and can't hire a proof-reader?

To Heather: "You don't understand hurricanes." REALLY?!!! I am born and raised on the Mississippi Gulf Coast---I'm 49 years of age, and HAVE experienced my share of MAJOR hurricanes. This is SO typical of judging others you don't know anything about.
I lived through Camille, Frederick, Elena, Georges, and Katrina...this does NOT include tropical storms, or storms that hit nearby states, such as Louisiana, Alabama and Florida...Ivan came so close to my house, we had serious tree damage.
Katrina was a hurricane, not 'poor planning'...it was an act of God. It WILL happen again.
My heart IS blessed by the One True God...YOU are the one who does not understand...I live at the Mississippi/Alabama border...it is only one hour and thirty minutes to New Orleans from my home. and about two hours to Pensacola...about thirty-five minutes to Mobile...God bless YOUR little heart for being so judgmental.

I have lived in Texas, Mobile, Alabama, Florida, Virginia, and South Carolina thanks to being a military wife. I have been through many hurricanes, most of which I dealt with alone with my children while my husband was out defending your freedom. As for judging others, I simply stated the truth about your comment. You buried yourself with your ignorance of South Carolina. We have designed our homes to withstand hurricanes and have planned accordly for flooding. I am sure with the millions that they spent on this house, that holds true. It isn't my problem that your area did not design your area properly. If your heart was truly blessed, you would not be jumping all over a simple statement. I guess you aren't a true Christian behaving like a twelve year old with your uneducated comments and deragatory behavior. Shame on you!

FYI....Hurricane Katrina was an act of God but the death and destruction was caused my poor engineering or the retaining walls. Ignorance is bliss!
twinkiesnvikes Nov 30th 2010 1:49PM
Heather is absolutely correct. Hurricane Katrina was an act of God but the devastation left over was due to human error. I also live in South Carolina and yes, there is flooding in certain areas but most homes are designed to with stand hurricanes and flooding. I am sure that when they built this house, it was designed around the surrounding low lands, especially with the amount of money put into it. I would check your facts Tracie, before trying to argue with a simple comment. I guess ignorance is bliss.
