No More Cold Ears, The Colorful Hats Of Lou Mistraou

The story of Lou Mistraou began with the mistral, the sweeping wind that whips across France. Cold ears led to inspiration and the colorful hats of Lou Mistraou. The hand-made winter hats from one of the last haute-couture chapeau makers are simple, bright and modern. They are available either leather or wool flannel stuffed with a wool filing and lined in pure silk. The silk hats come in bright blue, purple, orange and olive green and sell for $275. The leather hats in yellow, red or rosy pink are $475. They are available in New York City boutiques including DDC Lab and Jussara Lee and can also be ordered online.

Anybody willing to pay that kind of money for this is just stupid. It's not even original. The military has had something similar for decades. Only difference is that the military version came across the chin, not under it. That and it had a visor that folded down over the forehead.

Saving grace: It does look very warm. Otherwise, it's FUGLY. Even the gorgeous model looks like she stole her nephew's Donald Duck costume.

omg you are right ! I knew I saw this mess somewhere else and
that used to be my favorite movie I remember the space stewardess wearing that silly helmet hat its almost as absurd as the Urban Sombrero!

The bright color says spring. I don't like the way it looks. For the price it would cost, I'd rather purchase something more classy.

I love it...I hate being cold, but it is ugly-fied. Yep, I'd wear one for $5 or so...In a heartbeat. I wouldn't pay THAT much for a hat if I won the lottery. I know too many who need help.
