Linda Evans In Beverly Hills, Estate of the Day
Actress Linda Evans, best known for her turn on Dynasty as Krystle Carrington, has decided to put Beverly Hills in her rearview mirror. The LA Times reports that she has listed her house in the Beverly Hills Post Office area. Evans has stayed away from acting in recent years and is living in Washington to be nearer spiritual guide JZ Knight who channels the spirit Ramtha. In 2009 she won a British version of Hells' Kitchen, gaining the approval of chef Marco Pierre White. The home is a one-story ranch-style charmer built in 1937. Property records don't reveal when Evans bought the home but it looks like it was some time ago. The home is on half an acre that includes a swimming pool and a rose garden. The four-bedroom main house has hardwood floors, wood beamed ceilings and a country casual style. It includes a large living room with a fireplace, a family room with a bar, and a master suite with a fireplace and two bathrooms. The property also has a detached guest unit. It is listed at $3.295 million.

Very pretty and very clean. French Country with lots of blue and flowers. I like her, she's got substance. I would picture her in a home like this.

Absolutely beautiful! I wish I had the money to buy it.

Just goes to show how much MORE down to earth even millionaires lived- in the good old days of yesterday. What a breath of fresh air this house is- compared to the gilded, marble laden crap the rich live in these days. NIIICCE. Thank GOD for the old days as a reflection of just how gawdy, greedy America is- NOW.

I think the term for her decorating style is "shabby chic" and it was in vogue back in the mid '80s-early '90's, but wow, it's totally dated (and pretty hideous) now. It's a shame Ms. Evans has apparently rounded the corner and gone over the crazy cliff. Living in a house that hasn't changed in at least 20 years is bad enough, but moving to be closer to someone who claims to "channel a spirit named Ramtha" and guides her life just sounds insane. I wonder if she has any family or close friends who can "guide" her to a neurologist for dementia testing before she's taken for everything she's got?

Evidently your an idiot and don't know class if it came and slapped you in the face. This house has a home appeal and is well done, even if it was done 20 years ago, class does not go out of style
Raejean French Nov 18th 2010 9:34AM
Maxie, you are an envious schmuck. I believe they call those "haters" now.
The place is beautiful. And shabby chic is still very much alive as a desirable decorating concept. Get over yourself.

There's still plenty of people who love this casual country style. The thing that is interesting to me is that on the outside, it just looks like a fairly plain brick ranch. but the inside is beautiful. Shows what you can do with a 40+ year old home with the lower ceilings. Most design magazines ONLY feature homes with very high ceilings and incredible windows. Whoever did this home was very creative.

How do you put all that all on ONE HALF ACRE.But it is beautiful to say the least

Nice "shack" ! A very overly priced piece of realestate -- as is everything in California . A person paying $3.295 million for this place is the day a fool and their money part company.
glou Nov 18th 2010 10:23AM
To Huber Hanes: Prices are higher in California because of its beauty and many, many desirable communities in which to live. (There's a LOT more to California than L.A. county.) Yes, the cost of living is high -- but so is the pay scale.

I lived in CA for over 50 years, and my family has roots back to Spanish land grant days (Rancho Palos Verdes was in my Grandmothers family) in southern California and to the 1840's in central California on my Father's side (Paso Robles), so I think I qualify as someone who can give a realistic opinion of CA. Sadly, it has become a great place to visit, but a horrible place to live. Why? Let me just list a few of the many negatives: 1) world class traffic jams everywhere from Santa Barbara to San Diego (over 200 miles!!); 2) horribly overpriced real estate (Linda Evans cute rancher is no more than $300k to $400k in almost every good neighborhood outside of CA, and the metros in the Northeast; 3) the worst air pollution in the United States. A thick brown cloud sits in the LA Basin day after gloomy day obscuring the Mountains which are only a few miles away except for the few rainy months in the winter; 4) while wages are fairly high they do not come close to making up for the high cost of living; 5) one of the highest tax rates in the country if not the highest. Car tags alone can cost upwards of $1,000 for an average priced car and well over $3500 for an expensive model; 6) even for a moderate independent voter like me the politics are far far far to the left of me. The vote pandering and the political correctness that goes for enlightened and progressive politics by the left cannot be compared to anything in the rest of the country; 7) even their vaunted climate is oversold. Yes the winters beat living in the cold climes of the Midwest and Northeast, but do those who don't live in CA know that the Pacific Ocean never reaches above 70 and most of the year it is in the high 50s and low 60s (far to cold for most to swim in even in the summer without a wet suit? Also most people don't know that from late April to at least mid-July if not the first of August, the beach communities (I lived in Santa Monica and Malibu for over 20-years so I know) have cool days and cool to cold nights (high 40s to mid-50s) caused by the infamous marine layer that sits along the coastal strip during this time; 8) far too many miles of unattractive cracker box after the war tract homes that has left so cal with few greenbelts, spread-out wastelands of ugly sameness that goes for suburbia that makes you drive fairly long-distances everywhere to do anything, and public golf courses to number of residents ratio the worst in the country (if you can get on one, a 6-hour round is not out of the ordinary); 9) too little rain causing most of the year to be fire prone, (except winter), the vegetation dry and brown, and a thick layer of dust and dirt on every thing that someone can't or won't hose down; 10) CA is broke and getting broker by the minute (far too many years of leftist politics) causing the once great road and school systems to begin crumbling and falling apart. Of course I could go on, but you get the picture. Up until WW II, CA was everything as advertised, but after WW II too many people started moving into far too little of an area (which went unabated for over 50-years) has made a once Eden-like area into an ugly unlivable (for a long period) place to be. Sure visit CA. I recommend late September through October or mid-March to late April when the rain, fog or marine layers are not prevalent and days are usually warm and pleasant and the nights nice if you wear a sweater or light jacket. However, don't stay beyond a few weeks because many of the negatives I listed above will start to show their ugly side and then get back to your more livable and saner areas and thank God you do not have to actual live in such an area. Signed... former so caler.

What an idiot! I thought that the hollywood people finally gave up on that Eastern crap! She needs real help if she believes that that idiot can help her. Foolish woman. Goes to show that money and fame cannot but happiness or give direction to ones live. Hope she has someone who really cares about her to save her from herself and that "guru".
chris Nov 18th 2010 11:39AM
Maxie: First off get your terminology correct. Its most definately not shabby chic. Its classic country french. Timeless design. And, as note shabby chic is still viable as a design category.
DomainDiva Nov 18th 2010 10:03AM
I was OK until that horrid blue kitchen.
MTS Nov 18th 2010 10:14AM
That's an easy fix though. The house is pretty nice otherwise. Great pool area.
Sunny Nov 18th 2010 1:50PM
RIGHT abourt the blue kitchen ~ ~ ~ wow, it kind of hurts the eyes to look at it. But there is plenty of paint to be had. On the other end of the spectrum, the one bedroom is kinda of dull, again, this is where a re-do would help. Otherwise this place is really nice and cozy, homey, comfortable and so on, and on.
onepetlover Nov 18th 2010 10:08AM
Lovely. Understated and classy. I would tone down the blue in the kitchen, however. Also, as a person who has had pavers in my backyard I just envisioned all the upkeep in preventing grass, weeds from growing between them. Anyone who buys this home will also have to afford to hire someone to do the upkeep.
I do hope she is not going to give this money to JZ Knight. The woman is a proven scam artist and I fear for Linda Evan's future financial welfare. She has always shown a lot of class and would hate to see her on the skids some day.
