Lamborghini Discontinues the Murcielago

After nine years and 4,099 examples built, the Lamborghini Murcielago has reached the end of its line. The final example – an orange SuperVeloce model – was built last week at the company's factory at Sant'Agata Bolognese in northern Italy. And there will be no more.
In its place, Lamborghini is anticipated to launch an all-new model that promises to eclipse the Murcielago with higher power and much lighter weight. The latter is expected to be achieved through the widespread use of carbon fiber, whereas the outgoing model was built on a steel chassis.

All I am saying is the haters sound stupid putting the Murci down.
As for the corvette driver I have one question. " If it was parked outside your door and the car keys were given to you for free would you drive it?" Yeah I thought so. You would sneak down stairs and quietly tremble with anticipation. Whimpering like a little girl with excitement as you got ready for your first drive. And if you lined up everyone in the world who had never drove a Corvette or a Lamborghini and gave them a choice of witch one they would drive I have a suspicion that the Lamborghini line would be the one people were standing in. When you see a Corvette it doesn't even register. I think that's a nice car, and I would never call it junk, but when people see my Lambo its like they just saw a naked model running down the street. Whoever is out there that is dreaming about purchasing a Lamborghini I would say don't give up. Its worth every penny. And Worth every jealous look from Corvette drivers that don't understand.

You have no concept of what it would take to restore an old 250 GT.

could be worse they could discontinue that car and start making Toyotas..LOL Nothin faster than a runaway Toyota reaching terminal velocity!

i believe the new lambo will have an angular stealth fighter look, pretty cool. what is it about these corvette drivers? it's apples and oranges. vettes are very inexpensive, anybody can own one, nobody pays any attention to them.

Big deal, its only a car. I love my 560 hp 1979 Caddy with a hot rod 502 CID. 142 mph is fast enough, but plenty of room and great ride with all the gadgets new cars have except no monthly payments and low insurance. :-) 17 mpg @ 75 mph with style. And it wipes any little plastic 4-6 cyl "sports car" from any speed to any speed and no tranny speed limiter.

No big deal. If I had the money and with the exception of the Mondial, I would buy any Ferrari before any Lamborghini. Especially the 250 Lusso Berlinetta, 246GTS, 275GTB4, either Daytona, California Spyder and the current 458. Yeah, I know, I didn't mention the 250GTO. Who the hell has $16+ million layijg around?

Lamborghini's are SO COOL to look at! Although I am way too practical to ever want one, I WOULD LOVE a ride in one. There is nothing wrong with being successful and BUYING what you want. Don't be jealous people! "Get busy living, or get busy dying"!
J.E.B. Nov 16th 2010 11:47AM
Oh darn. And I was so looking forward to dropping over a quarter of a million dollars on one.

I own a Ferrari F430 and am a big fan of Lamborghini's. I am a member of a an Italian car club. The Corvette guy is an ongoing joke there. We have a contest, who can photograph the most obnoxious Corvette licence plates. I bought a new Corvette in the eighties and have to say it was the biggest piece of crap. Constant electrical problems, blew the tranny 3 times. After that I swore off American cars. I know they are a much better car now but please dont mention Corvette in the same sentence as Lamborghini its insulting. Its like comparing Snooki to Raquel Welch.

I worked for Bob Estes in the early sixties. He called me at home one Saturday & told me to come to the dealership and to hurry. When I arrived, there was a beautiful Lamborghini sitting there. He was so excited and told me to jump in. Off we went down the freeway; I have no idea how fast we were going, but it was FAST! After a bit, he pulled off and told me to drive. I can only tell you that when we got back to the dealership, I didn't want to get out. I can't explain the feeling, but I had a love affair with that car. He became the Western Distributor for Lamborghini. I was the accountant and everything else; even picked up the cars at the port, got them out of customs and drove them to the dealership. The Miura cost $20,000 in those days and so did a house in Palos Verdes, Ca.

To me the Miura was the most beautiful car on earth. I rode in one back in about 1971. The owner was a TV stunt man I rode dirt bikes with. The sound of that V 12 behind you was the most incredible music!

Actually, a 250 GTO sold last year for upwards of $25 units. $16 would get you an interesting restoration project.
