Lamborghini Discontinues the Murcielago

After nine years and 4,099 examples built, the Lamborghini Murcielago has reached the end of its line. The final example – an orange SuperVeloce model – was built last week at the company's factory at Sant'Agata Bolognese in northern Italy. And there will be no more.
In its place, Lamborghini is anticipated to launch an all-new model that promises to eclipse the Murcielago with higher power and much lighter weight. The latter is expected to be achieved through the widespread use of carbon fiber, whereas the outgoing model was built on a steel chassis.

Chevy has never been able and will never be able to match the Italians in sport car , the only one that ever came close was the Ford GT 40 and it was made in England .....

Hallelujah...Loved the Countach, Idolized the Diablo, but then came along the Murcielago with it's large-mouth bass front end and non-descript styling. Hopefully Lambo designers will come back with something that evokes elegant Italian styling that legions of us dreamed about for decades, while also causing dread on anyone looking in the rear view mirror to see one come screaming down the road on you like a demonized bird-of-prey. Hope the new Lambo will be cause for celebration!

My Corvette is over 1000hp the Lambo cant touch it for speed or acceleration. The Corvette is a lot cheaper. Who needs Italian overpriced slow motion junk!!!!!
soundontherun Nov 16th 2010 8:27AM
who cares no one needs a car that is this expensive. if you have that kind of money put it into the american economy. create some jobs
Adam Nov 16th 2010 8:39AM
Knucklehead....I would bet 95-99% of people who own a Murcielago employ 5 people or more. Stop "hating" and go earn some money!
Phil Marx Nov 16th 2010 9:25AM
I owned an 89 aniv countach from 1997-2005 ,
I kept many people employed .
Cops , the courts , detailers , mechanics , insurance co , oil companies to name a few .,.,.,lol

Even if I could afford it, I wouldn't buy one of these things. If I were going to buy any Italian sports car, it'd be an old Ferrari 250 GT. If you've got the money, buy old and restore.
rocco Nov 16th 2010 9:07AM
well lucky me,well i orded one two months ago but not 'orange'see what they ship me --if not i would rather wait for the up grade ..
Lee Nov 16th 2010 9:25AM
I have never known anyone that's ever even ridden in one, but I would guess it would be a thrill? Like many others that have commented, I'd rather wait for my Corvette next year!!
mixed Nov 16th 2010 11:14AM
Lee...seriously.
don't make comments that can't back up. You'll never own a handmade peice of art that can be driven and is supported by some of the most passionate and greatest manufacturing minds of our time. Buy ur vette and race through the stoplights in your town so the unemployed losers at McDonalds can say ""ooooo look at the shiny red car!!" . The article is about a league of buyers and crafters that are way beyond ur expectations in a car. A vette.......good lord!!!

Hilarious!! None of you who are negative about the Murcielago have money. The Murci is a dream car. It is impossible to get in it without smiling. It is a fountain of youth. You buy it for one reason and one reason only. It is a fascinating display of success. That would be success of making a fantastic car. And the success that the owner has achieved to purchase one.

So it's a trophy toy for rich old men with small penises who are going through midlife crisis? Something to show off and impress the high school girls and strippers with and what will eventually be used to finance the soon-to-be exwives' plastic surgeries after they've won it in the divorce? Thanks for clearing it up! Hilarious indeed! ;)
Countach and Diablo waste this car in style anyhow.

Nope. 38 years old. GED. Business Owner. Happily Married 11 years. 3 Kids. Tithe a large portion of my income. Take care of my family. Was homeless for years. The car is used to drive me and my son around in so that I can teach him about the American Dream that so many of you have forgotten about. We worked for it. I am teaching my son to work for it. I wish you the same opportunity.

Who the hell can afford one? Fun to look at but not very practical. Had I the money don't think I would buy one. Top speed in this country is 70 around where I live so who neeeds it.
