Photo Tour: Bonhams & Butterfields Classic California: Collectors' Motorcycles, Motorcars and Related Memorabilia Press Preview

I swung by the Bonhams & Butterfields press preview at the Petersen Car Museum in Los Angeles on November 11, camera in hand. The mission: check out the some of the cars and motorcycles that are part of the Classic California: Collectors' Motorcycles, Motorcars and Related Memorabilia auction taking place on November 13. My colleague Jared Paul Stern already mentioned some of the Steve McQueen items up for sale but there are many other items for sale including a wide variety of vintage cars.
Getting a quick polish in the setting California sun was the incredible 1939 Lincoln Zephyr Sedan Delivery Deco Liner which comes with a matching 1991 Harley-Davidson Sportster Deco Scoot. Completed in June 2008, the Deco Liner is a one-off custom 1939 Lincoln Zephyr created by artist Frank Nicholas and Terry Cook of Deco Rides of Long Valley, New Jersey. It is estimated at $110,000 - 150,000. Check out some of the other lovelies after the jump.

This 1915 Harley-Davidson 11F with sidecar is estimated at $30,000 to $40,000.

The 1905 REO 16hp Roadster--Pioneer automaker Ransom Eli Olds built his first gasoline-powered car in 1896. After Olds left Oldsmobile in 1904, he started a new company to produce a new car. Legally restrained from using the Olds name, he used his initials to create the REO Motor Car Company. This one is estimated at $12,000 to $15,000.

This 1931 Ford Model A Roadster was used in the Andy Hardy series of movies starring Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland.The rear-mounted spare has "Rah Rah" painted on its fabric cover. It is estimated at $30,000 - 40,000.

This 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible is a well-kept older restoration in beautiful greens. It is estimated at $65,000 - 75,000.

This 1969 Ford Mustang Mach I 428 Cobra Jet Ram Air has never been restored. It car has all matching numbers and retains its original muffler, spark plug wires and hoses. It is estimated at $90,000 - 100,000.

Many of the cars were being given a perfect polish before the show. Not this one, it's a California barn-find, stored since 1972. The 1949 Hudson Commodore Convertible is offered in as-found condition (non-operational and its present mechanical condition is unknown) and is estimated at $12,000 - 16,000.

This 1941 Ford 11A Super Deluxe Convertible Coupe is estimated at $42,000 - 45,000.

The 2009 Yamaha YZF-R1 "Rossi Replica" is a charity auction benefiting Friends of Riders for Health, an organization that provides motorcycles used to deliver medicine and healthcare workers to remote villages in Africa. It is estimated at $50,000 - 70,000.

This 1962 Chevrolet Corvette is being offered by its original owner. Delivered new to Enoch Chevrolet in South Gate, California, on April 12, 1962, the Corvette retains its original California black license plates as well as a its original owners handbook and the car is offered on a 1965 California pink slip. It is estimated at $45,000 - 65,000.

This 1949 Humber Super Snipe MK II Drophead Coupe is one of just 28 that are presently known extant and is the only one on North American continent. It is estimated at $70,000 - 80,000.
