Lot 18: Private Sales Come To The World Of Wine
The world of private sales is coming to wine. Philip James (founder of Snooth.com) is behind Lot18.com, a new invitation-only site that will sell wine in a flash sale style format with limited runs and savings of up to 60 percent. The new company recently completed a $3 million Series A round of funding led by FirstMark Capital, a New York City-based venture capital firm.Lot18's procurement team curates and presents the offer, with the sale and shipping managed by the winery. Wine sales online continue to grow but state-by-state shipping rules have made total domination problematic. Lot18 matches consumers directly with top wineries across the country and plans to position itself as a trusted source of information about quality wines. Lot18's partners so far include Cornerstone Winery, Boisset Family Estates, and Foley Family Estates.
Lot 18 is offering 500 invites to Luxist.com readers. To get yours click here: http://www.lot18.com/invite/luxist

got to love wine marketing.
They try so hard to create the appearance of "exclusivity".
