Vanity Fair's SunHee Grinnell's Ten Favorite Essential Items on Display at The Surrey

Vanity Fair's Beauty Director SunHee Grinnell has selected her top 10 favorite essential Upper East Side items.
Vanity Fair's Beauty Director SunHee Grinnell personally curated The Surrey hotel's latest "Top 10 New York" collection, which is now on display at the boutique hotel on Manhattan's Upper East Side.

Grinnell's top ten favorite essential Upper East Side items are displayed inside a Jimmie Martin graffitied armoire in the hotel's lobby. After viewing a sneak peak at some of Vanity Fair's insider's preferred Upper East Side retail offerings, guests of The Surrey may venture a just few blocks to purchase their favorite items in the armoire from the boutiques – or may purchase them directly through the concierge.

SunHee's curated collection for The Surrey's "Top 10 New York" features:

Chanel's stud embroidered flap bag
Yves Saint Laurent's Bell De Jour wallet in turquoise
Dior's Red Silhouette belt
Jimmy Choo's JAVA peep toe ankle boot with handcrafted leather 'ricamo' embroidery in black
Gucci's Guilty Eau de Toilette
Tom Ford's Whitey B5 sunglasses
Valentino's black bow leather gloves
Barneys New York's Simon Doonan Witticism stationary
Pucci's Foulard scarf
Michael Kors' Allover Glitz Watch in black.

Following a $60 million renovation, The Surrey hotel opened its doors in late 2009 to reveal a 1920s Beaux-Arts design, inspired by a residential townhouse, where traditional sophistication blends with modern elements. The Surrey affords direct access to Madison Avenue's upscale boutiques and restaurants, Museum Mile, iconic landmarks and Central Park.

The Surrey features 190 well-appointed salons, including 30 one-bedroom suites, a penthouse and a presidential suite, ranging from 350 to 2,127 square feet in size.

The Surrey offers a complete luxury experience for hotel guests and Manhattanites alike with its beautiful day spa, "Spa at The Surrey" that is complete with luxurious private therapy rooms as well as a range of customized spa treatments. There's also a world-class restaurant, Cafe Boulud, which is operated by celebrity chef, Daniel Boulud, offering a contemporary approach to classic French cuisine. Boulud also operates Bar Pleiades, located on the lobby level of the Surrey, an Art Deco-inspired lounge that is quickly becoming the destination of choice for the residents of the Upper East Side.

The hotel's impressive art collection is also worth checking out. It includes 31 original contemporary works by notable artists such as Chuck Close and Helen Amy Murray, dispersed throughout the private and public spaces.

The Surrey Hotel is located at 20 East 76th Street, between Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue. For more information, contact the hotel at (212) 288-3700. Reservations can also be made by calling the hotel's toll-free line at (800) 978-7739 or on the hotel's website.
