Unfortunately, the best hotel bar in the world closed a few years ago. It was the Compass Rose Room in the St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco. High tea in the afternoon, jazz at night, expensive artwork throughout and if you were lucky you might get a table looking out on Union Square. My wife and I enjoyed several hours with that view on our honeymoon during the Democratic national convention in 1984 and returned several times later.

GOOD FOR YOU! IM WISHING I HAD A LOT OF MONEY RIGHT NOW TO VISIT THE WORLDS GREATEST BARS HOWEVER, THAT IS JUST A WISH..IBUT I DO REMEMBER A FAVORITE BAR I VISITED FREQUENTLY IN SUNNYVALE CA. WHICH SADLY HAS DIED.. IT WAS THE EASTCOAST STYLE,DINNERHOUSE BAR,COMPLETE WITH SEASONED BARTENDERS,AND AN AMAZING COLLECTION OF EARLY AMERICAN WESTERN ART REMMINGTONS AND RUSSELS COVERED THE WALLS,BE IT REPOS,BUT STILL! I MISS THIS PLACE.. HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU
