Head of Harbor, Estate of the Day

When I saw this home on Newsday, the words "King Arthur's Theater" had me clicking for more. Today's home in the village of Head of the Harbor, New York has a home theater with swords on the ceiling and the walls and a suit or armor in the corner. But that's not all that's going on in this 14-room estate. The home also has a gym, a lower-level ice cream parlor, a gym and indoor and outdoor pools. Outside, the pool is part of a resort-style yard that faces Stony Brook Harbor and has its own dock. The home is listed for $8.2 million.

What's the old saying "Too many cooks in the kitchen spoil the soup."?
This appears to be "Too many decorators will ruin the whole house."
Way too much going on here, too many conflicting styles, simply no organic flow or concept. The property itself is stunning.

I think it follows nicely. I like how one of the bathroom in the house also tie in with the fireplace and the slate wall in the patio area. However, I am not a big fan of those wood floors with the matching hand carved wood ceilings, even though it is repeated throughout the house. But what's up with the Wine Cellar? It doesn't flow.

Too much glittery stuff in the theater. Maybe they make a nice decoration but all those swords and armor would cause WAY too much reflection during a movie. There's a REASON you generally do theaters in mostly dark colors and flat paints. What's the point of having a theater if you're going to decorate it in a way that makes it not that functional? High end theater equipment can easily cost $100,000+ .
Not too mention I don't really see a strong movie-theater motif in swords and armor.

Keep the pool, indoor and out. Bulldoze the rest.

Hell, my home, while not as pretentious as THAT monstrosity, It does have a 300 Meter Rifle Range in the back yard, and is around 100 Meters from the hole where the NC State Record Smallmouth Bass was caught!

Interesting mix of styles. From the outside pool view the home looks 70s/80s, but inside more modern. I think if you strip out all the interior decor, change the lighting/carpeting and add furniture that softens the interior I think it could be nice

This is great. This would have been my kitchen.

Just stunning! If you are not used to opulance, I suppose you'd think this was too much but I'm in California. We enjoy this kind of mansion with all of it's grandeur. One of the prettiest EAST coast mansions I've seen to date here. Usually they are rich with history (old and run down) and bare minimum in decor. GREAT decor-interesting and unique.

Um, who is "we?" Yep, these things with all their "grandeur" are built every day here in CA only to be torn down in a few years to make room for another person's wet dream.
