Nicholas Kirkwood x Rodarte Wrap Candle Sandal

A stickler for uniqueness and outrageousness, the Mulleavy sisters don't disappoint when it came to their collaboration with famed shoe designer Nicholas Kirkwood. Case in point – the Wrap Candle Sandal ($1605). The name is playful and fun to say and the shoes exude that same good natured spirit and quirkiness.
These vibrantly hued heels will not disappoint if you're looking for a pair of showstoppers. There is so much going here - the juxtaposition of various colors, patterns and textures that initially don't appear to blend well together but somehow become a cohesive mix. And of course the pièce de résistance- the melted candle wrap heel. It puts the perfect punctuation on Rodarte and Kirkwood's "look at me!" heels.

$1600+ for something that looks like a mess thrown together from scraps plucked up from the design floor and heels that look as if they were covered with wax in a terrible attempt to cover up scratches and mars? Not to mention the way the foot is stuffed into the shoe with the ball of the foot looking for a way to escape it's prison by bulging out on each side. Walking on broken glass would probably be more comfortable. This type of "artsy" design only goes over well with those shallow types who believe they have to purchase only the most expensive, classless, designer hyped shoes and clothing so they can feel better about themselves while holding the belief that they pulled one over on their sudo-friends. "Less is more" girls, "less is more".

Those shoes are seriously atrocious.

These are the ugliest shoes I've ever seen! If that's really candle wax, they wouldn't last a day in the Summer in the South!
deliadeath Oct 30th 2010 4:04PM
Can you say "Fugly?"

I love shoes! But these, well, they do not pass. Someone needs to put a wick in them and fire them up!
John F.C. Taylor Oct 30th 2010 5:38PM
Those shoes should be thrown into the darkest closet you can find and the door should be nailed shut. They are ugly on so many levels.

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!! THOSE THINGS ARE BUTT UGLY!!
Kathy Oct 30th 2010 6:06PM
The wide straps, top and bottom, ruin this as well as the candle drip wax heel. Otherwise, I think they could have worked something else with the rest of the shoe to make them cute, sexy, but not atrocious. Whatever works for them, tho, they are making good money?? Or is this a one of a kind pair? That would make them a "must have" for somebody who has money to blow. I could see Lady Gaga wearing them. Madonna. Maybe Cher.
