Winona Ryder In Los Angeles, Estate of the Day
Winona Ryder is moving on. The Real Estalker broke the news today that Ryder has listed her longtime home in Los Angeles. Ryder bought the 1936 Spanish-style home in 1998 for $2.6 million. According to Movieland Directory this home was also previously owned by model Angie Everhart and Elton John's songwriting partner Bernie Taupin. This classic Los Angeles home has four bedrooms. While the home has clearly been staged for sale, we can get a good look at the bones of this property. Many of the original details are in place. Like the Real Estalker, I rather enjoy the vintage charm of the pink and blue tiled master bathroom. The home opens into a wide entry hall with a curving tiled staircase that has stained glass windows and large dark murals that appear to feature the Garden of Eden.
The home has a long formal living room with French doors that open to the backyard area and a corner fireplace with a carved wood mantel. There is also a dining room, and small tucked away pub room with a built in wet bar. The kitchen has exposed antique brick walls, white cabinetry and wide doors opening out to the yard.
The home and garage surround a bricked-in courtyard with an outdoor fireplace and leading to a kidney-shaped pool. This home is listed with Westside Estate Agency for $4.095 million. The property website is here.

What a beautiful home! Wasn't the home used in a movie "Slumming in Beverly Hills" with Bette Midler?
kimberrose Oct 22nd 2010 9:13PM
It was called "Down and Out in Beverly Hills"

With a little work, this could be a very nice property. I wonder where in LA it is? I'm not that familiar with the skyline so I can't tell from the pics.

I think the house is beauitful just the way it is, very old time Hollywood.

Laura Lynn: it's on the corner of N Doheny Drive and Cordell. It's the whole corner; the front faces Doheny, and one side and the rear is on Cordell. The smaller building behind the pool is the garage that you reach from Cordell. There's also a side entrance and parking area in the back on Cordell, and a front pedestrian gate on Doheny. It's a large lot and well laid out. Nice property and nice house. In the last pic you can see that big apartment building that's on the corner of Doheny and Sunset, right behind the Trousdale club and Nonna's restaurant.....

It's really nice to see Ms. Ryder again- one of the best actors of her generation.
Her talents have been conspicuous by their absence.

I agree it's been to long, I hope she has a comeback soon I enjoyed her in the movies. Has a lot of class. I love her home. Its simply beautiful . I wish her luck with the sale and want her back on the screen.

I don't care for the pink and blue bathroom but the rest of the house is bright and cheerful. I don't know what I would do with all the room but I wouldn't mind living there

That's interesting that you see it as "bright and cheerful" - even though I think it's very pretty, it gave me kind of a "sad vibe." And I've always really like Spanish style homes.

The house is beautiful, very old Hollywood style, however I think I could do better with the decor.

How very refreshing to see the beautiful pink bathroom, and to know that the owner did not start knocking out walls and redecorating. The house has a beautiful feel to it, a peacefullness that is just not seen anymore. It is not garrish and overdone. It is truely wonderful just as it is.

What a beautiful "old Hollywood" home! The entry foyer looks a lot like the house in the Crawford/Davis movie "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane". I don't know if it would be worth a lot more than she paid in 1998.

I loved the house. I was raised with that same blue and pink bathroom tile. The blue sink was the same sink my brothers and sisters used as childen. OH what beautiful childhood memories came back when I saw that bathroom!!!

I'LL TAKE IT...
Jean Bailey Oct 22nd 2010 11:13PM
I can't help but wonder how many items she "stole" from stores to decorate her home?
svpav Oct 22nd 2010 11:14PM
the pink and blue bathroom(s) got to go - the art is mediocre but the outside is attractive, if lit correctly
