In 1965
King Farouk died at the dinner table in Rome where he lived for the last part of his life. The highly overweight former king of Egypt keeled over after an especially heavy meal. Thus ending a rich life of excess and having fun as a member of royalty - when such people were growing continually less common (and with lifestyles like that, who can blame a populous for not wanting to support that). King Farouk fled Egypt in the early 1950s when his highly corrupt government was overthrown. While he might not have been the best ruler, he was really good at enjoying the lifestyle. He was especially well known (even among his peers) for enjoying all things lavish. Owning many homes and 100s of cars, Farouk had a penchant for traveling to Europe and succumbing to regular shopping excursions. In his heyday he was somewhat of a trend-setter for the Egyptian elite and his grand tastes were known around the world.
Rau Antiques in New Orleans has acquired a King Farouk bedroom set. The several piece set is from the mid 19th century and right up King Farouk's alley in terms of taste and poise. The seven piece set is Parisian and done in mostly mahogany wood. Lots of gilded bronze accents and decor inspired by mythology and fantasy creatures. Probably one of his favorites. Price for the set is $985,000 -

Did someone actually get paid to write this article? Have they ever taken an English course or even proofread what they wrote before submitting?

That is the most hideous looking furniture I've ever seen - had the fat potentate seduced me, I would have lost it laughing at the first sight of that monstrosity... and at the furniture too.

All Egyptian men of power are pedophiles. It's true. My father used to live there before he retired from Boeing, and he told me that it is commonplace for sheiks and the like to order prepubescent children to their bed chambers. And more often than not to have homosexual sex with underage male children. Even though it is unlawful, no-one gets prosecuted for it, which tells you that even the judicial system over there is rife with child rapist judges. The women are so subjugated that they treat it as a way of life and think this is the way the world is supposed to be. My father was friends with a psychologist who was born there and he told my father that more than 90 percent of all female Egyptians have sex forced on them before puberty and, once again, more often than not by someone in their own family. There you have it. Someday, thank God, these savages will run out of oil and have their come-uppance. Until then we can only hope they keep killing each other off.

what was that old middle eastern proverb???
For kids a young girl, for exercise a young boy, but for true enjoyment a goat
(maybe a camel)

When you said the King's bedroom I was sure you were referring to ELVIS. He had much better taste than that crap in the pic that you showed.

He was an avid stamp collector as well. More countries should re-establish their monarchies. It would be better to look at them then some of those louzy actors....who pass themself off as "stars" and "royalty". Have you seen who the pretender of the throne is for Italy...very handsome--not sure if guy or straight though...oh well...
