Bodhi High-tech bags: Time to Switch

If you're carrying your Kindle, camera, or smart phone in something ordinary, old, and unprotected, you could be heading for trouble. One owner reported the premature death of her iPod after only a few drops of liquid caused a "moisture" device to go berserk. Another had scratches on her iPad screen after it tumbled out of her unzipped roomy tote. To guard against theft, you have to be extra diligent about your surroundings, but for some non-theft problems the Bodhi Tech Collection may fill the bill. Recently, Luxist asked the Creative Design Director Joseph Janus to talk about the new collection.

Luxist: Why the launch of a new collection now?
Janus: When designing luxury products today, you cannot ignore tech. Handbags now have more functions. Bags need to hold more than they used to ---iPads, IPods, Kindles, cell phones, cameras, and computers.
Luxist: What's special about the new bags?
Janus: For example, many of our items are TSA (Transportation Security Administration) approved. Our iPad jackets transform into small reading stands. Each piece in our collection has been designed to include its own tech feature.
Luxist: What about the bags for the Kindle?
Janus: Our Kindle handbags and cases are lined with faux fur to protect the screens.
Luxist: What about style, not just form and function?
Janus: Many aspects of bags currently available are merely technical and lose the aspect of design. Our Tech Collection tends to have a stylish twist in each highly functional bag and case. We aim to usher in a new wave of luxury and practicality by combining high sophistication, cutting-edge design, and a hand-made quality in our bags.
The Bodhi Tech Collection is available for men and women in smooth leathers, coated linens, various colors, and prints. They are available on Bloomingdales.com and NeimanMarcus.com.
