Robbins Brothers Introduces 98-Facet Diamond

Engagement ring specialists, Robbins Brothers has come out with a new diamond cut. The standard 57 or 58-facet brilliant cut diamond is increasingly being edged out by stones with more and more facets. Over centuries, the natural octahedral rough diamond has gradually been modified and faceted to get the most light play out of the stone. In the last few years, breakthroughs in diamond cutting have lead to the ability to place more and more facets on stones. The new round brilliant Echo Diamond, contains 98 facets that are hand-cut and arranged for maximum brilliance. The facet placement allows more light movement and more sparkle, which delivers a brighter diamond. In celebration of the new diamond launch, Robbins Brothers offers customers a free diamond wedding band ($395 value) for every Echo Diamond that is purchased (minimum 1/2 carat) before October 24. The Robbins Brothers Echo Diamond also comes with a lifetime warranty, conflict-free promise, certification including an Imagem Light Return Report of "Very Good" or "Excellent," and a laser inscription with the Echo logo and IGI certificate.

I love the way diamonds reflect light. I use those tiny accent stones in my art. I can't wait to see 98 facets play with light. I know I won't be able to buy one any time soon.

Is this an article or an ad?
Lara Oct 7th 2010 1:55PM
It's an ad masqerading as an article, as is the case with most of AOLs 'articles'.

That's ok and all, but is it a colorless or a peerless diamond like what Macy's and Jareds boasts? It's generic, and I would never wear a ring that someone else wears.

What do you mean it is "generic?" Every diamond is not different but you can put it into any setting you want and that makes it unique.

I have a manufactured diamond (diamonique from QVC) ring that has 100 facets and it's beautiful. They have a number of jewelry items that have the 100 facets.

A manufactured diamond is not a diamond. Only a real carbon diamond from a diamond mine is a diamond.

I think it is an advertisement masquerading as a story.

I'm llaughiing, seriously. They can cut (facet) any diamond they want-whether it be SI-1, VVS or whatever it doesn't dictate how many facets an individual will cut into it! Also they are far from setting any real trend considering Zales hasa style called "celebration" in which they use 102 facets-it's in every one of their stores so go take a look
Judy Oct 7th 2010 12:47PM
I have seen the "Celebration" diamond at Zales and have to say that I am really not impressed. It sparkles nicely but I think that with that many facets they have a tendency to start to look fake. I will take my 58 facet diamond anyday. I got a new Marquis for my 20th Wedding Anniversary (1 CT) and the matching diamond wedding band for Christmas this past year (22 yrs). For my 15th I got a 7 stone Marquis band all 58 facets and wouldn't trade it for the world. They can make as many facets as they want, even up to 1,000 if they want but 58 facets are fine with me.
