Shakira Launches "S by Shakira" Fragrance

Just when I think the fragrance market is saturated, along comes another celebrity-inspired offering. Hot Colombian singer, she of the hips that don't lie, Shakira, entered the market in September with "S by Shakira." The fragrance launched in more than 15,000 stores, including drugstores and mass- and mid-tier department stores.

"My feeling is that personal care and beauty should be effortless and accessible for everyone," Shakira said in a statement. "When you give someone a fragrance, you're giving them something of yourself. It's a gift of your essence."

The performer was involved in the creation and explored notes that were meaningful to her, in this case, chocolate and strawberries, baby skin, balsamic resins, and honey. The result features notes of jasmine, sandalwood, vanilla, amber, and resins.

OMG, another ghetto perfume with bad packaging and a jacked up price! Totally expecting to see truckloads of this one at stores like Ross...

Shakira is already sooo over rated. She is an ok singer and tho she is a good dancer, she seems to try too hard. In other words, the only reason she's popular is because sex sells, and she has to sell it hard to make any money in the biz. She is boring after that one hit she had, "Hips Don't Lie". Not much talent there. As far as her fragrance, well, it will be a money maker for her, that's all. Her fans will buy it and that's all that matters to her I guess.

Shakira has been famous and rich in Latin America since the age of 13 or so. She can't help it if people find her sexy and like her music. Get it over it and if you don't like her all you have to do is not watch her videos or play her music. Simple!

lol, yea white people britney spears is soo talented .mexicans and all brown people are easy targets because they are poor,dont forget california was mexico,yea europeans came here and built an industrial country..but the cost for the ocurrence,genocide of thousands of indians,slavery,disease wich killed 80% of native mexicans/indians ,the pacific ocean is so polluted it's like pea soup,95% of wild life hunted and killed for sport,millions of bison/buffalo killed to near extinction,bottom line we all would have been better off IF europeans "the white man" stayed in europe ,africans left alone in peace in africa,Indians left alone in this once was the most beautiful country IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with Tiffanie, just another celeb with a perfume destined to end up at Marshalls or TJ Maxx. And Kanaan's world cup song was far superior to the one sung by Shikira.

I first saw Shikira's perfume at a CVS, and I loved it..When I got the money to get a bottle I figured I'd find it at Walmart or Target but I didn't, I even went to another CVS and they didn't have it...So, I finally gave up and went to the CVS I saw it at...I love it, infact, I'm already telling my family thats what I want for Christmas...Great perfume "S" Shikira...

I don't listen to her music at all. I was just stating my opinion like everyone else does. I'm glad she is popular in Latin America, good for her. As far as sexy, well, she is ok, however, I still think she is way over rated. Any woman can shake her ass and hips and walk around half naked and be "sexy", it doesn't take much. She doesn't do anything "great" and her voice is mediocore. If she didn't shake her hips and show her abs all the time, I bet she wouldn't be nearly as famous as she is. In today's music world, its a shame that talent is secondary to how someone looks or moves. As far as I'm concerned Beyonce and Lady Gaga and Christina Aguilera all have the voices to back up their music, plus Beyonce is a great dancer and does a lot more than just "shake her ass and her hips" when she performs.
