La Habra Heights "Toy Box" Listed at $21 Million, Estate of the Day

There are some houses that are elegant and other houses that are, well, sort of giant toy boxes for their owners. This one is both.
First the fun stuff: There's an incredible pool worthy of Vegas, right down to its waterslide with a ring of fire, a swim-up bar and a pool house with glass walls. There's also a waterfall, grotto, cave and fountain. There's a full kitchen poolside and sports bar so you really never have to leave the resort, I mean pool area. The property is in La Habra Heights, which borders Los Angeles and Orange County, perhaps not the toniest of addresses. But who's leaving?
The 9,000-square-foot house has a casino room with multiple TVs so you can keep current with your online sports betting. There are slot machines and video games, again very Vegas-like. Enough neon to bring on a migraine, just like the real Vegas does! The home has a professional theater, a wine cellar and library. There are five bedrooms and nine bathrooms. The $21 million asking price includes an extra buildable lot.
And now for the more serious things: The home has hand-painted ceilings and walls, hand-carved moldings, crystal chandeliers, etched glass mirrors in the bathrooms, custom carpets, draperies and Versace furnishings.
Marguerite Wheery of Teles Properties, Brentwood, is the listing agent.

Was hoping for alot of pic's on this one,but thats the way it always is,the ones I hate have a slew of them.Shame it at least doesn't have bathroom pic's.Lot of the estate pic's have been really terrible lately.

I believe these are the most disturbing photographs I have ever witnessed.
$23M, you would have to be out of your mind....and in La Habra to boot!
Eric Sep 21st 2010 1:52PM
Even at the $21M they are asking, I agree, it's overpriced.
The exterior and grounds are nice ... but not the interior.
Freshlife Sep 21st 2010 1:52PM
All that money and zero taste or class. I would hate to see the monster that commissioned such a ridiculous property. This looks like someone gave someone with Asperger's syndrome 15 million dollars and said "build a house- knock yourself out". On top of it all it's in La Habra heights which in itself is a horrible community surrounded by even more violent horrible low income communities. What a freaking mess!

Yes the interior is horrible and the asking price is very optimistic. However La Habra Heights is very nice community. They have vineyards and equestrian properties and its all in orange county close to Brea and Yorba Linda. All the properties must be at least 1 acre according to zoning laws. You can work in LA or OC and still come home to a real home with a real yard, with horses, no neighbors for under a $1M. Try to find that somewhere else.

This home owner is single-handedly responsible for keeping the silk and dried flower industry alive!

OMG! Is that a NAZI cap/hat in the wine cellar?
Too tacky for words. Must have been decorated by a lottery winner.
Cari Sep 22nd 2010 1:07AM
The wine cellar is probably the only thing I wouldn't change! That and the outside.
Cari Sep 27th 2010 11:22PM
That room may be the only thing I wouldn't change inside. I like it! Of course my selections would have to be expanded into the other room.

yeah, "tacky" was the word that kept popping into my mind. i like the tiki lounge, though. and really, $21 million for la habra?
adesertking Sep 21st 2010 4:04PM
A Tear down. Or if you are really lucky a burn down.
John Green Sep 21st 2010 4:28PM
Wow. 21 million, did you see the white corning 5 burner cook top? That's real class. Especially love the scalloped drape in the kitchen. Wonder what the baths look like. 21 million..... Amazing.

both of these are hilarious

This house is aggressively tacky! I wouldn't pay a nickel for it.
joellepergo Sep 21st 2010 8:47PM
Absolutely awful! $21M I don't think so
David Sep 21st 2010 9:16PM
$21M? I wouldn't take this house in a contest. The only good thing I could say about it is it isn't mine.
Mikesjacob Sep 21st 2010 9:19PM
what a joke. tile countertops and a 5 burner stove? and the first movie theater where you sit SIDEWAYS!! that house would need a couple million in interior renovation to bring it up to par, let alone to the $20m+ category. Lucky for the sellers their realtor is smoking the same crack they are.
Yanca! Sep 21st 2010 9:20PM
Outside is beautiful but the inside is a 'hot mess'. The ceilings bother me lol...it was a nice idea but just not executed well!
jackwkesterson Sep 21st 2010 11:53PM
I have a term for places like this, "Donald Trump classy". It's the kind of place you'd likely find a gold plated toilet. They probably need the money to buy some taste. Just horrible.
